What gifts do you want for the holidays this year?
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 05:28 PM by mvd
For me:

1) Continued health/happiness for family and friends
2) Recount showing Kerry won Ohio
3) A treadmill so I can exercise easily when there's bad weather
4) These CDs:

* U2 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb - will probably end up giving it A+ after all
* Vanessa Carlton - Harmonium
* John Mellencamp - Words & Music: John Mellencamp's
Greatest Hits
* Donnas - Gold Medal
* Diana Anaid - Beautiful Obscene
* Lindsay Lohan - Speak
* Elliott Smith - From a Basement on the Hill
* Gwen Stefani - Love, Angel, Music, Baby

I'm listening on MTV's The Leak, and it sounds like neither Lindsay Lohan nor Gwen Stefani went the generic route after all. That's great!

* A solar powered watch (probably only if I get one less CD - can't get too greedy now that I'm older. I'd get less if I had a steady job.)

* A book and calendar

5. For all of us to start a huge boycott of all the Bush contributors.
We can begin with the pharmaceuticals, go on to the insurance companies, and continue on to the oil industry. What gas stations are not Bush toadies?

7. I'm proselytizing for Maroon 5. May I suggest their fantastic cd?
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 06:06 PM by tjdee
I don't know what it is, but I bought the cd on a whim not expecting to like too much of it, and I LOVE it.

BTW: what irks me about both Lohan and Stefani is that both of their singles are about how they're rich and everyone loves them. Can't relate, and I think it's hilarious that Lindsay Lohan is all like, leave me alone....one way for her to accomplish that is to NOT MAKE AN ALBUM, for starters!

10. Their singles aren't their best songs
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 06:30 PM by mvd
I suggest you give both albums a chance. Both singles aren't bad, but neither one would have made me want the CDs. Thankfully, we have legal, pre-release listening available. Even if it's not your kind of music, this is my list, not yours. I have a really varied taste. I will check out the Maroon 5, though I haven't loved what I heard before.

20. I would say the same about Maroon 5, actually!
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 06:39 PM by tjdee
Oh no no, I'm not at all saying your list is bad :) Actually 3 of the cds I plan on getting in the next month or so are on your list!

I was very excited about Gwen's cd, actually. I just dislike that song a LOT. But I can agree that she didn't go the generic route.

And Lindsay Lohan is okay with me too...again, just the song.

But I get your point, and I'd venture to say that about Maroon 5--I didn't even get the cd because I liked their singles. I HATED "This Love" and I still skip it when I play the cd... of course you may totally hate it!

How did you check out the cds? Through Amazon/something similar or is there an avenue I'm missing?

Sorry for the snarkiness....if there was some....

Since I don't travel a lot, I thought a treadmill and the CDs were more important now.

Hope everyone gets what they want. :hi:

24. Yes, thanks it really would.
He is going to have the eight hour blood test tomorrow to narrow down this Cuhings Disease. If it's from the Pituitary Gland, it can be treated with medication; if it's from the Adrenal Gland, oh boy, that's a tough one. It usually means a tumor on the Adrenal, not good.

So, if we have just a little time left with him, I want to devote it totally to him, taking him to the beach, going to the mountains, his favorite things.

Thanks.

22. a decent job after graduation, and stuff for my apartment
After I finish college, I'd like a little nest egg set up for me so that I can furnish my apartment and put the rest aside for emergency needs. That's all I really want for Christmas.

25. Well, I don't do Christmas
But my birthday is in January and there are a couple of things I'd like.

I'd really like the complete Monty Python collection on DVD.
A new computer (not likely)
A chain saw
At least a weekend in a nice hotel with a hot tub
Something with emeralds and diamonds (yeah, I know, I'm not your typical girly-girl. Chain saws and emeralds)

27. I need a printer that I can take along to College
My father has had dementia for 4 years now and we didn't realize it until last year. Christmas is more about food, family and friends.

I will buy myself some movie tickets from him and that will be my gift.

Actually I don't need anything right now except the printer but that can wait.
