10. Good call!
Love her version of Highway 51 too.

I posted on one of the favorite gig threads and then remembered I saw her twice at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit (in 1993-ish?). First time there were about 50 people and she wore a tshirt and jeans and sat on a stool playing acoustic. Six months later I saw her again, it was sold out, she was wearing a feather boa and playing with a full band, They were both great shows, but very different.

11. I was at that same second show

That was an awesome show. I really love her stuff from the Dry and Rid of Me albums. Not as crazy about the later stuff. Lots of good shows at St. Andys back then. Saw the Afghan Whigs (where they covered Sheela-Na-Gig), Lemonheads, Paul Westerberg there around that time too.

21. Good old St. Andrews. Haven't been there in years
Used to go to 3 floors of fun a lot. I saw a lot of bands there but I can't think of many now...Ride w/ Lush, Curve, Inspiral Carpets maybe?
That Ride show was my first time there - I had to use a fake ID and I even convinced my folks to let me stay out until like 3am on a school night. senior year, age 17. major coup!

20. Pretty much anything by Stan Ridgway
but especially Dogs

One dog buries a bone
and then the other dog digs it up
and finds a prize in store

One dog dies and the other dogs
go dig him up a tomb
with his name inscribed

And there on his tombstone
carved so bold
the words are clear and strong

It says

This one is for the eyes
for the eyes of the other dogs to come
It's for the eyes of the other dogs to come

I also like I Wanna Be a Boss and Overlords.
