Just dropped in $15, all I can do right now with mom in the hospital and having just bought a house (the one next door to her).
I have been reading DU almost since it's inception, just joined this year. I am sure many can do more than I have financially, and some less. Please help keep this site alive and going strong! It is one place where we can talk and congregate on a regular basis. We might not all agree on some things, but at least we have a place to do so openly. Not perfect, but a helluva lot better than the alternative.
Let's focus our energy on the next 4 years - there is a lot which will be going on in the house and senate. Keep your eyes open, your mind open, and work together here on DU to keep those folks in Washington on their toes.
* might have a high elected office for the next few years, but I still believe we the people have the power to keep him on a leash. I won't give up, we have each other and the active left to keep him from running over us. Watch the legislature, keep the news flowing here, and let's all pull together and make this a good 4 years for us and a miserable 4 years for * and crew!
Thanks to DU for keeping me company many a nights, and to all of you for keeping this a hopping place. Don't be discouraged, be empowered and aware. This is not an end, but a start to a better tomorrow.

I loved the movie, for some reason it just hit me that way. I also loved ' A beautiful mind' and have watched it many times and heard all the commentaries (but then, number theory is a hobby).
Something about Lyle and crew I saw in myself. I have been a lynch fan since Eraserhead and Twin Peaks, but this one movie seemed different to me. It would be a movie I would make if I could make movies. Not exciting, not action, just something that seemed real to me and reminded me of myself in some ways.
Like a good book it reached out to me and I found in it something I could relate to. I like other movies, like the 4 Billy Jack ones, but that goes to another level. The Straight Story was something simple and easy, not overly political or sugary, not overly preachy. It just seemed, to me, like a good movie.
