Anyone unable to access DU for several days? |
|
Several of us at work have been unable to access DU at work since the middle of the day Wednesday, through Friday. I was unable to try to access at home in the evenings, to see if it was DU or the computers at work.
Did anyone else have trouble? You think our workplace blocked it? I am accessing DU now, since I'm at home.
Any thoughts?

I don't trust internet rumors though.

8. You should ask Admins if they are using an .htaccess file to block IPs |

Or they also could use this bbs program to block them (since I have used the same program myself I know it is capable of doing that). While I am sure it is possible your employer may have blocked the site on its network, it also occurred to me that DU may be using a blocking file to block certain disruptors or attackers via an .htaccess file which is also inadvertently blocking posters DU doesn't want to keep out.
This could be a big problem with dynamic (changing) IP numbers. For instance, if you block someone on AOL it could wind up blocking a huge number of people who might also be using that IP number as well.
Go to the Admin board and ask.
