Poll question: DU Preference for Kilborne replacement |
|
Who Will Replace Kilborn? Search Continues
We all know who the 'final four' are in this contest but CBS wants the contest to go on a little longer. When Craig Kilborn announced earlier this year that he was leaving 'The Late Late Show', CBS began an extensive search to replace him. Four finalists emerged, actors Craig Ferguson and Michael Ian Black, MTV's Damien Fahey and comedian D.L. Hughley have all been asked by CBS to return for one week tryouts.
The order will be Ferguson, Hughley, Fahey and then Black. Fahey will be at a slight disadvantage since he drew Thanksgiving week and will only get to host three shows.
A CBS spokesman said a final decision will be made in about one month. Kilborn surprised CBS executives when he announced he was leaving the show after five successful years on the air. All four of the finalists have been guest hosts at various times but only one will get a full time gig on CBS. --------------------------------
Fergeson is the Scottish guy who played the boss on the Drew Cary show. I think most people who watch Bill Maher will know who DL Hughley is, he was also on of the "Original Kings of Comedy". Fahey is the skinny white guy host on TRL. Michael Ian Black has been on "The State", "Ed", "Wet Hot American Summer" and the "I love the..." shows on VH1.
I slightly want DL most cause he has impressed me big time on "Real Time". It also would be nice to have the first black host on a network latenight show.

In many terms anyway. It would be cable to network. But he'd also be going from 11 to 12:35. And would lose his repeats on comedy central througout the day probably.
TDS on comedy central get's way better guests than Kilborne ever could and AS good as if not occasionally better than Conan.
If Stewart ever jumps to a network it will have to be legally after his contract expires in I think 2008 and from a career standpoint it would have to be to 11:30.
I predict he'll be Letterman's replacement although Dave has indicated he doesn't want to retire at any forseeable point.
Jon could also go to ABC if they ever cancell/end nightline, and move back Kimmel to 12:30, or to Fox, UPN, or the WB.
