Would you really want to live to be 113 years old? |
|
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/11/20/oldest.man.dies.ap/index.htmlNot to sound morbid, but i don't want to live that long. I'll be happy if i make it to 80. I hope i die in my sleep, and not over a prolonged illness.

Especially of you can be sentient and enjoy life.
Noting says we HAVE to expire when we're in our 80s or 90s.

8. World's oldest man now 111. |
|
A German who was just the right age for combat in WW 1 and who survived the Hitler years and WW II. Amazing. Still, you would think that with 3 billion men on the planet, that someone could survive longer. There seems to be a very strict genetic limitation. Same limit for women, a few years older, with the oldest woman around 115 or 116 who is currently alive.

That was the the thing I have always found most fascinating about my Great-Grandmother: She grew up in Imperial Germany, married a protestant in Berlin (and was thrown out of the catholic church for it) survived the war in Berlin, escaped the Soviets, settled down at the Dutch border, lived in Ally- occupied territory, the Federal Republic, and then unified sovereign Germany.
So she lived in at least four different nations without ever leaving the country, she passed away a year ago, at age 96.
