Anyone here a Terry Brooks fan?
He just put out another Shannara book. Just when you think that he couldn't take it any farther... I just found out tonight, and immediately bought it.

1. I read "Magic Kingdom For Sale/Sold!" years back.
But I'm guessing I'm way behind now. Since the weather's cooling off and the days are getting shorter, maybe I ought to start reading SF again. I went off on a 'classic fiction' jag, reading a lot of Hemingway and the like, but I could probably benefit from the escapism of some SF right now.

2. I never read the Magic Kingdom series...
Have you never read the Shannara series: The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara, The Wishsong of Shannara, The Scions of Shannara, The Druid of Shannara, Elf Queen of Shannara, The Talismans of Shannara, The First King of Shannara, then his latest series The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch, Antrax, Morgawr.

The newest is The High Druid of Shannara: Jarka Ruus, takes place 20 years after Morgawr, and centers around the main character in the Jerle Shannara series. They are really pretty good, but be warned, they are addictive, and once you start a book, it is tough to put down.

3. I read The Sword of Shannara...
The Elfstones of Shannara, the Wishsong of Shannara, the Scions of Shannara and the Druid of Shannara, but I just couldn't keep up. Terry Brooks seemed to be writing the books faster than I could find the time to read them.

4. I read the Shannara series years ago
and I enjoyed them. I think I only read the first three then the Kingdom For Sale series. They were fun books.

6. I've read several of the Shannara books.
When I read the first one, I nearly didn't get through the first chapter because I was thinking, "This is a total knock-off of Tolkien. Can't this guy think of anything original?"

I continued and actually liked the book and the next two. They still seem like knock-offs of Tolkien, but they're very good knock-offs of Tolkien. :D
