I´ve been here for one or two weeks now. It´s still overwhelming. Waaaaay too many threads. And is it true that a newbie can´t open a new thread or is it just me who really doesn´t get how to open one? :p

I don't remember how many posts you have to have to start a thread, but hit "post" at the top and see if you can. If you can't, just respond to stuff and keep those good ideas for threads in mind and keep trying.

Also it's hit and miss. Sometimes you'll post stuff that just sinks like a rock, other times you might get an unexpected number of responses. Just depends.

I don´t think I can open a new thread yet, but maybe somebody here can :p I´ve mentioned this in another thread as well. It´s just that me and my friend had a really long discussion about the fact that there are a lot of American people who are really freaked out about the re-election. And that there are so many ideas to protest against the outcome of the election but that there may be too many ideas which leads to the fact that some great ideas are being wasted because ten people respond to idea 1, 10 people respond to idea 2 etc etc. And she said the American people could really accomplish so much if they just started co-operating in one plan instead of having 10billion different plans. I´ve been thinking about it for some hours now, and I think she might be right for once (we like to argue.. and I like to win, but maybe.. just this once.. she might be right :p ) So I really wanted to open a thread about that. Maybe somebody believes Democrats need to co-operate more also and is willing to start a thread. I´ll shut up now ;)

I think I did my first post when I was in my 20's.

I agree about cooperating. Today my husband and I cooperated in putting the cap back on the toothpaste. We each had only one hand to work with (as the other was busy with the toothbrush), and we did it without speaking.

Here's a poem I wrote about it just now:

He held the cap still,
I inserted and screwed.

I've posted a couple before but I guess they got lost in the fiery underbelly of DU hell (Page ten or more...).

As for shyness, I'm serious, though able to laugh at myself...

I suffer from a very crippling form of shyness, you know, not being able to look people in the eye, not being able to talk to others without being talked to first, hiding in a corner at social gatherings, that sort of thing...

I'm a 32-year-old man, and have always had this problem. I've gotten ALOT of help for this over the years so I'm very familiar of the implications of being shy. I even wrote an entire book (fictional novel) themed on the subject...

If I could only find a publisher {Sigh}

Jus' looking for someone to talk to, I often, under my breath, talk to myself...People often think I'm crazy.

I'm Jus' a normal guy looking to have my voice heard...

Plus, I was a bit of a stutterer as a child and, I think, a borderline dyslexic. To this day, I find it very hard to use a typewriter or write cursive lettering. My thoughts go faster than my scripting.

during the DEM primary season when I googled something about the Democratic party. I lurked for a quick minute to check it out and to try and figure out whay everything meant.

I also use it for news and facts but I really enjoy the lounge. It's a fun place!

I tell people I'm sorta the "poster child" for the Dean campaign, since one of the amazing things he did was to bring so many new people into the process. Before this primary cycle, I never did anything political other than voting. But Dean inspired me to become involved, and I stayed involved even after he dropped out. So, I thought my username should reflect my (brand new) political "roots."

I am dfinatively a newbie and did not lurk long before posting. In fact I wanted to post the first time I visited DU but that was a day after the election and at that time DU did not accept new member. Too much traffic.
