Cat photographers....I have a question.
How the hell do you manage to get good picks of your cats with their eyes wide open?

1. You shoot a shitload of pictures and hope one turns out
Actually, that's the rule of thumb for photography in general. We have 18 years of cat pics, and I'd say only about 25-30 of them are any good.

2. I was taught 1 pic for every two rolls.
The key to good photography is throwing away the bad stuff.

My white kitties are big hams, but my siamese is camera shy.

5. Bright natural light and no flash.
Flash with cat eyes (and dogs for that matter) is really tough. If you MUST use flash, don't shoot head-on, take the shot from the side. The flash reflects off the inside of their eye, thus the bright green, blue, red, etc. eyes.

14. the kitty was sniffing the camera
Thus making him look freaky. I swear I'm going to someday take a good picture of my cat. ;-)

15. My last three cats have all enjoyed having their pics taken
Whenever I get my camera out it's "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille..."

(Boo got mad b/c he was sharing the pic with his Momma here)
