My Mom's in the hospital

Mom has been fighting some kind of a gastro-intestinal thing for a week now. When I stop by to see her Friday morning she scared the s**t out of me. She was pale, incoherent, and unstable on her feet. In fact when she got up to walk she fainted cold and then asked what happened when I was picking her up. With much protest I got her in the car and off to the emergency room. Once the IV started flowing she started to become Mom again. After some blood work they determined that she was extremely dehydrated and low on potassium which they believe is from all the loss of fluids due to vomiting and pooping all week. Today she is looking and feeling better but they can't figure out exactly what is causing all this. A gastro-intestinal doctor saw her today and they are trying to figure things out.

Send your prayers, karma, chants or wishes to this true blue dem Mom. She needs to get back to her normal,active * bashing self. At 75 she is a fighter but I'm concerned and worried since she never has been this sick-ever!!!

My mom celebrates her 70th birthday on Monday, and she's always been in good health, but I also worry about things like this. Hope your mom bounces back and is on her feet again soon.

You guys are the best and I know you mean it!! DU has been a refuge for me since I found it back in April. It is my adiction and I check it everyday no matter what. We do need her on our side, so far she has told every nurse, technician, and aid that has asked what she wants on TV that she will watch anything but that Republican network (FOX). She then adds that they are nothing but liars, crooks, and cheats!!!

You and your Mom definitely have my prayers.

Have the doctors check to see if it's a "urinary track infection." Most people your Mom's age get it, and their bodies don't deal well with it. The same symptoms happened to my Mom and after questions and tests, the result was a UTI.
