6. Ooohh, Animals, that's
a great PF album, one of their best! "Pigs on the Wing" has always brought a bizarre but fascinating image to my mind.

and looking for relationships, of course.

24. I saw it as "Three" + "differen" + "tones"
and I was busy trying to remember Floyd ever going on about three different tones.

9. Hey you white house ha ha charade you are
Hey you whitehouse, ha ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse, ha ha, charade you are
You’re trying to keep your feelings off the street
You’re nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
...!...!...!
You gotta stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you’re nearly a treat
Mary you’re nearly a treat
But you’re really a cry.

11. My favorite..."Wish you were here."
Amazing how a band made most of a career writing about Sid Barrett's never ending acid trip.

14. I even like the early Barrett stuff...
like "See Emily Play" and "Arnold Layne". Later on, "Final Cut" a little too whiny for me...your dad died in the war Roger, we get it,,, Hell we got it on "The Wall"! Didn't really listen much after Waters left them though.

13. I wouldn't say they made most of their career off Sid
WYWH is obviously all about him but the rest of the albums only have passing references at best. At least that's what I've always thought...

17. I may read or hear more into than you...

but even on much later material like "Division Bell", the mourning in "High Hopes" is not just for the loss of Waters, but goes all the way back to Sid..."the grass was greener, the light was brighter, with friends surrounded, the nights of wonder" (the last line was a reference to tripping). I could be wrong. It's happened before.

18. I thought WYWH was about Vietnam!
Edited on Sat Nov-20-04 11:18 PM by Carni
Not being a smart ass... because I have no idea!

On edit: The "Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in cage" I guess it what lead me think that.

19. There in lies the beauty of lyrics!
Edited on Sat Nov-20-04 11:38 PM by gater
Interpretation is individual, and words in song are meant to be interpretted... I view the whole song as a description of the struggle an artist has justifying success against the forces which drove him to be creative, artistic,,,and the realization that there's no resolution. He will never be able to go back.
(talking about "High Hopes" here)

22. You could very well be right!
I just assumed it was about Vietnam but what you said could also be the case!

I listened to that and Dark side of the moon until I had big ruts in my "albums" back then (dating myself lol)
