First of all I want to thank all my fellow DU'ers for their help in clearing up some virus/spyware problems I had earlier this week. I followed all the informed advice and it seems to be working quite well-Spybot and spysweeper find nothing now and AdAware only found three little problems.
Part of the advice I got was to install and use the mozilla.org's firefox. Well I installed it but I don't understand how to use it.
-Do I have to have my Internet Explorer up and running to use it? -When it asked if I wanted to make Firefox my home page I clicked YES but all that came up was a google page, I don't understand. -It said that all my favorites would be imported but I can't find them on the mozilla, What did I miss? -As the first test of it I tried to put DU in the address line and hit GO-the home page for DU came up but when I tried to login or go to LBN just to read it a box came up saying democraticunderground.com not recognized. I don't seem to understand.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. reagarding the bookmarks |

AFAIK, it automatically imports other Mozilla versions' bookmarks, but for IE, I think you have to manually import.
Try bringing up boomarks > manage bookmarks > tools.
I use an older version of Mozilla so that may be off.

2. I installed it yesterday. |

Totally painless. Asked if I wanted to import everything, said yes, and it did it all. You might try to uninstall and reinstall and pay attention to the prompts. The only problem I see with it is I might not live long enough to get it completely set up. Lots and lots of options.

Nope.
When it asked if I wanted to make Firefox my home page I clicked YES but all that came up was a google page.
Hmmm. Look under Edit --> Preferences --> General. The first item let's you set a home page.
It said that all my favorites would be imported but I can't find them on the mozilla.
Try the menu item Bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks. That will bring up the bookmark manager. In that window choose File --> Import. It should have some options there. If IE doesn't appear as an option, choose "from file" and select the bookmarks file. I believe it's called Favorites, but where it exactly it is will depend upon which version of Windows you are using.
As the first test of it I tried to put DU in the address line and hit GO-the home page for DU came up but when I tried to login or go to LBN just to read it a box came up saying democraticunderground.com not recognized.
Could that have been a temporary problem with DU? Or using your ISP's dns server? It might have nothing to do with Mozilla Firefox.
