|
Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 11:25 PM by khephra
A PERFECT CIRCLE'S
*Pet*
Don't fret, precious, I'm here. step away from the window go back to sleep
lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come
counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum
pay no mind to the rabble pay no mind to the rabble
head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums
hey, don't mind what the other voices say they don't care about you, well I do, well I do safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils, see, they don't give a fuck about you, like i do.
just stay with me, safe and ignorant, go back to sleep go back to sleep
lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums
pay no mind to the rabble pay no mind to the rabble
head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums
I'll be the one to protect you from your enemies and all your demons
I'll be the one to protect you from a will to survive and a voice of reason
I'll be the one to protect you from your enemies and your choices they're one in the same I must isolate you Isolate and save you from yourself
swayin to the rhythm of the new world order and count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum
the boogeymen are coming the boogeymen are coming
keep your head down, go to sleep, to the rhythm of a war drum
stay with me safe and ignorant just stay with me hold you and protect you from the other one the evil ones don't love you son go back to sleep go back to sleep
go back to sleep
go back to sleep
go back to sleep

1. Maynard Keenan is truly a poet |
|
Unlike many other rock lyricists who get accused of being poets.

5. one of the best i believe. Sorry I missed "A Perfect Circle" this summer |
|
when they played at Berklee Performance Center in Boston. The Tool concert I was fortunate enough to see in 2002 was one of the best concerts I had ever seen and I have seen quite a few in my day.

Tool was fucking great this last time around. It made me feel like I was watching Pink Floyd in their prime, if you know what I mean.

2. Most violent anti-war song ever |
|
At least, that I know of. Particularly see the last stanza ("And I hope that you die...")
Masters of War (Bob Dylan)
Come you masters of war You that build all the guns You that build the death planes You that build the big bombs You that hide behind walls You that hide behind desks I just want you to know I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin' But build to destroy You play with my world Like it's your little toy You put a gun in my hand And you hide from my eyes And you turn and run farther When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old You lie and deceive A world war can be won You want me to believe But I see through your eyes And I see through your brain Like I see through the water That runs down my drain
You fasten the triggers For the others to fire Then you set back and watch When the death count gets higher You hide in your mansion As young people's blood Flows out of their bodies And is buried in the mud
You've thrown the worst fear That can ever be hurled Fear to bring children Into the world For threatening my baby Unborn and unnamed You ain't worth the blood That runs in your veins
How much do I know To talk out of turn You might say that I'm young You might say I'm unlearned But there's one thing I know Though I'm younger than you Even Jesus would never Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question Is your money that good Will it buy you forgiveness Do you think that it could I think you will find When your death takes its toll All the money you made Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die And your death'll come soon I will follow your casket In the pale afternoon And I'll watch while you're lowered Down to your deathbed And I'll stand o'er your grave 'Til I'm sure that you're dead

3. The song before this is called "Lullaby" |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 11:28 PM by khephra
Why is it that I can imagine "Pet" being sung to Bush by Ma Bush?
I think I'm calling him "Precious" from now on.

9. Well, I think it sums up the current situation perfectly |
|
counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum <-- This line is particularly chilling.
And I imagine it is the Bush administration and their corporate cronies singing the lullaby for the masses and we are the "rabble" that they should not pay attention to.
Is this a current song? Where could I hear it set to music? How did you find it?
