I live in a nice neighborhood...
About two months ago some kids came buy selling flavored pop corn...
You had to pay and then they would oder the pop corn... They had a form for you to fill out. which I did and gave them $7.00 or $10.00... I can't remember now...
Two months later and no pop corn....

Did they tell you when to expect the pop corn? Did any other kids come by around the time they did (possibly selling other things)?

7. I Have To Volunteer This... |

I live in a gated neighborhood so the kids most likely were neighborhood kids...
My hunch is they weren't doing very well and gave up on the enterprise...

I was worried that this was part of those illegal rings that get runaways to go door-to-door selling fake goods. They always ask for cash and end up getting some pittance of 2% of their "earnings" from the ringleaders. I heard a piece on this on NPR and couldn't believe it.

5. Don't despair, I've signed up for endless stuff from neighborhood kids |
|
Sometimes I thought they'd forgotten me, but they always came through in the end - although I usually didn't want the stuff in the first place anyway!

6. You were so duped. Never pay in advance. And |
|
Those magazine subscription folks? Twice now I have wanted to order Ellery Queen's digest from a door-to-door seller. I listened intently to both spiels and on both occasions asked them to return because my dh was gone and I didn't have the checkbook. BOTH times they promised to return and - guess what? I *still* don't get Ellery Queen.
Yeah - I know. Subscribe online. But still, just like you, it's the principle.

8. Did they give you a receipt or something? |

I would think that if this was for their school, it might take a while. Then again you might have been ripped off.

No cheesecake. I don't even remember how long ago that was! :( But in my case, I did ask when it would be arriving and I don't remember what she said  .

16. they often take a long time |
|
because the kids might have 1-2 months for their little selling drive, and then they turn in the papers, and then another month later they send you the stuff.

Do you remember what they were raising money for? You might be able ot track them down that way. It's also possible that they screwed up. I was selling boxes of choclate for my football team in 9th grade. I am still trying to figure out which house I missed. I feel bad, it was a mistake.
