2. Paul Simon has the most soothing voice ever.
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 03:27 PM by tjdee
Simon is arguably the more 'important' talent, but both are very soothing.

One of my favorite songs of all times is "Diamonds on the Souls of Her shoes"

5. Only Livin' Boy in New York
one of my faves. I listened to Bridge Over Troubled Waters while I made a Sam Waterston quilt for a Refugees International fundraiser a while back. My fansite for Sam is called "...and here's to you, Mr. Waterston"

7. A resounding Yes!
"Bookend" is my favorite. My brother and I used to recite word for word the "the voices of the old people".

"I don't think it's an ordinary cold, and I'm in PAIN strongly."

We had a weird sense of humor.

13. Liked 'em then, can't listen to 'em now
I'm sorry to be the spoilsport, but these days I find them far too bland. I'm got a certain residual fondness for "The Boxer" and that's about it.

14. They're groovy dudes
I like their sound and style. Of course, I was like less than 2 when they were in their prime but I will listen and sing along when their songs come on the radio.

15. "Let us be lovers, we'll marry our fortunes together"
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And walked off to look for America

Cathy, I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
Michigan seems like a dream to me now
It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw
I've gone to look for America

Laughing on the bus, playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said be careful his bowtie is really a camera

Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat
We smoked the last one an hour ago
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

Cathy, I'm lost, I said, though I knew she was sleeping
I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike
And they've all gone to look for America

America lyrics

My favorite Simon and Garfunkel song

16. Sounds of Silence Lyrics and the people bowed and prayed to the neon God
they made......

Hello darkness, my old friend. I've come to talk with you again.
Because a vision softly creeping left its seeds while I was sleeping
and the vision that was planted in my brain still remains within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone, narrow streets of cobblestone
‘neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp
when my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
that split the night and touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening.
People writing songs that voices never shared, no one dared disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools," said I, "you do not know, silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you, take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell and echoed in the wells of silence.

And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made
and the sign flashed out its warning in the words that it was forming.
And the sign said "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
and tenement halls and whispered in the sound of silence."

22. One of my all-time favorites........

And I'm laying out my winter clothes and wishing I was gone
Going home
Where the New York City winters aren't bleeding me
Leading me going home

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of every glove that laid him down or cut him

'til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving
But the fighter still remains.
