The band that was just on Conan (My Morning Jacket!)
Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 12:43 AM by YoungLiberal16
For the love of god please tell me some of ya'll saw them. They are My Morning Jacket based out of my hometown of Louisville, KY and I have been saying for the past year or so that they are the best new band in the United States today. I've met them a few times and they are great guys. Jim James' voice was a little off tonight but television cannot convey how truly awesome they are live.

For those who did not see them: They are keeping rock n roll alive baby!! Neil Young meets Pink Floyd in space on a lot of songs. The song they played tonight(One Big Holiday,) when done for real, usually clocks in at about 10 minutes (it's 8 on the album.)

Uncut gave It Still Moves five stars and called it "An album birthed by the classics and one we should probably get used to treating as one."

Ok I'm done shilling

1. They've been getting plenty of airplay
on our semi-local 'modern rock' independent station, WOXY (97X, the one whose ad is mimicked off the radio in 'Rain Man') in Oxford, Ohio. I'm up the road from Oxford a piece, but the station still comes in well enough here to listen to it most of the time in the car.

I really like their stuff, and I like the interviews I've read with them. They're getting really good buzz everywhere -- and, for once, justifiably so. Pretty good web site, too -- it's worth looking over for anybody who has any interest in the band at all.

3. Yep
I'm glad they are getting all this buzz. Tom Blackenship's (bassist)family is good friends with us and I remember his mom bitching that he refused to go to college and worked at blockbuster so he could stay with the band. Now he's on national TV and they just released a GREAT album.
