We woke up this morning to two tiny mice in our bathtub... |
|
I was about to take a shower this morning a little after 7:30, when I saw two little black things scurrying along my bathtub at my mother's house. They were playing and having a ball. They scared the crap out of me. out of the corner of my eye, it looked like a Tarantula had taken over the tub. Thank God it was just two little mice. I put a piece of cheese in the bottom of a box from my mom's liquor store, and by luck managed to get both into the box. My mom sat them out by the barn. While inhumane, she later had my uncle take them into town and put them in her work dumpster. Where they'll either die or eat on what's in the dumpster until getting thrown in the garbage truck into mouse heaven. And then while we were shopping at Dollar general, the lights went out. It's been a weird day. Duckie

2. I told my mom to get a cat. |
|
I told her she'd only have to clean the litter box every couple days and she could put it someplace no one would see it. She doesn't really care for cats, but it would do away with this problem. Duckie

3. I live out in the country... |
|
in a very old farm house. I have just had to sort of make peace with mice. When fall turns to winter there's just no way to totally keep them out. They don't take up much room.

4. HippieSlacker Author Dude caught one in his kitchen |
|
a couple years back. Got him a terrarium, a wheel, and some cedar shavings. Named him Herman (as in Hesse).
He was an unobtrusive house pet until this past spring, when he met his maker for reasons unknown.

5. Mice and Rats get sick off cedar shavings. |
|
They require paper shavings that don't have oil or dust. Otherwise they get respiratory problems. And Mice have a really short life span. He was probably like 80 in mouse time when he died. Duckie

7. I did that a couple of years ago. |
|
We had been trapping and releasing 15 or so deer mice (the cute white and brown ones) from our garage during the Fall. By the time we caught the last one, there were a few feet of snow on the ground. Plus the little thing only had three legs. We kept her (I'm guessing) in a glass tank over the winter. She was a sweet little thing; loved the excercise wheel. I released her one warm day the following April. She scampered off very quickly.

12. My mother wouldn't let me. I said I wish I had my cage here... |
|
...and she said, WE ARE NOT HAVING MICE IN A CAGE IN THIS HOUSE. We already have enough running round. I think they're nice too, and I'm scared for my kharma now. Duckie

My dad's basement is a regular mousetropolis...opened up a drawer in an old desk and it looked like mousie apartments. I tried to get them all trapped and moved out (humanely) before I moved back with my kitties last summer. Since then, it's been a real battle to try and get the residual mice away from my cats before thy behead the poor little things. I am not exaggerating, either. :puke:

8. I hope momma didn't have her litter in your house! |
|
One year I removed 10 mini-mouses and the momma mouse. Seems she decided my place was a good place to raise her young. I had mice in my computer, running all over the house and even walking right up to me. I got pretty good at catching them.

I have one in a terrarium here at home, and I have another who lives at my shop, and with whom I've become friends.

10. I think mice are rather nice |

MICE
I think mice are rather nice; Their tails are long, their faces small; They haven't any chins at all. Their ears are pink, their teeth are white, They run about the house at night; They nibble things they shouldn't touch, and, no one seems to like them much, but, I think mice are rather nice.

13. Ever seen the movie "Mouse Hunt?" |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 06:57 PM by TheCentepedeShoes
Two down-on-their-luck brothers inherit an old mansion from their dad. Find out it's worth much more money than they expected and decide to auction it off. Only problem, it has a mouse...
Edited 'cause I can't spell even with spell check.

15. Two days ago I heard the softest squeak coming from behind my |
|
refrigerator. I wheeled it out and there were 8 brand new baby mice (they were so ugly they were cute) and one mommy. My four cats were the exterminators. The Mother ran and cats chased, it was total chaos. The female, Tinkerbelle, finally caught her and wanted outside to do 'cat things' to it.
I think the mouse came in on the water line that runs to the ice maker. It was the one pipe I had never packed steel wool around.
