Elton John Fans: What's this song?
I was at Applebee's today and heard this song--I'm pretty sure it's Elton John. I heard some lyrics but couldn't ascertain them (it was hard enough figuring out it was Elton John!). Anyway, the song has a "western" feel to it--it's piano with a harmonica, fiddle, violin, or whatever makes that high-pitched noise you hear in most western movies. I've heard the song before--I'd like to know its name.

Any thoughts?

2. Hm.
Well, once you hear it you know what it is.

I'm listening to samples from the iTunes Apple store now. That may help!

6. Honky Cat?
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 10:43 PM by Magic Rat
When I look back boy I must have been green
Bopping in the country, fishing in a stream
Looking for an answer trying to find a sign
Until I saw your city lights honey I was blind

They said get back honky cat
Better get back to the woods
Well I quit those days and my redneck ways
And oh the change is gonna do me good

You better get back honky cat
Living in the city ain't where it's at
It's like trying to find gold in a silver mine
It's like trying to drink whisky from a bottle of wine

Well I read some books and I read some magazines
About those high class ladies down in New Orleans
And all the folks back home well, said I was a fool
They said oh, believe in the Lord is the golden rule

They said stay at home boy, you gotta tend the farm
Living in the city boy, is going to break your heart
But how can you stay, when your heart says no
How can you stop when your feet say go

It featured Jean-Luc Ponty on violin.

16. I say HONKEY CAT, here's why
It was played at Applebees, so its probably a radio-friendly song.

The only song I can think of that was a hit for Elton John and was kinda country, was Honkey Cat.

Applebees doesn't strike me as a place you'd find the obscure collection of Elton John b-sides.

Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 11:02 PM by SeanOhio
Thanks for your help--but none of these have worked. To give you an idea of what the "western" sound is, try this clip (#17 Doubleback) from Back to the Future III in Windows Media Player.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B0000014RN001017/0/102-1807230-2236105

The song has a real slow piano tune with the occasional harmonica thing. It's really a well known song. D'oh!

33. Not sure.
I've used the iTunes Music store to listen, and I can't find it.

Perhaps it isn't Elton John--if you put in a piano and add the type of music in that Back to the Future III song, you get this one.
