Haaaa! My stupid local Fox tv channel is running that Red Dawn |
|
movie with Patrick Swayze and the Cuban Commies. I wonder if it will occur to anyone watching that there is a lesson about guerrilla warfare, occupation forces, and insurgents on their home turf?

1. The operation that captured Saddam |
|
was named "Operation Red Dawn." Apparently the irony of that was lost on whatever military genius decided to name it that.

3. Best. Propaganda. Anywhere. |

I love the veiled subtext about the Soviet soldiers anally raping the American teen women, and the way the story jumped from a bunch of teenagers with Cheerios fighting a modern army, right to the dedication of a plaque commemorating the American resistance over the thwarted Soviet attack.
Fuck.

2. Hah...you haven't seen the new Fox version. |
|
Where Swayze and the rest of the terrorists are accused of atrocities and harboring dangerous weapons of mass destruction and so the good God fearing people of the democratic Soviet Union call up 50000 more troops to put an end to their terrorism (for the small price of strip mining the rocky mountains to pay the costs of liberating us).

6. LOL !!! But, are you serious? |
|
Because it sounds far too realistic in our 1984 Fascist world. Would sheeple understand the premise, the plot, the outcome?
I know you are not seroius, but wait a year or so (unless we get a BBV miracle).

God, that movie was on cable 24 hours a day it seemed. It was laughable but there was nothing else on so we watched it over and over.

8. That movie did succeed in capturing the desperation of |
|
an occupied people.
For all it's lack of sophistication, the philosophy is rather stark and sound.
