Are these Fred Phelps nuts for real?
Some idiots on Yahoo put up this link:

http://www.godhatesamerica.com/ghfmir/main/shepard_monument.html

It's Fred "God hates f**s" Phelps' idea for a sicko "memorial" for Matthew Shepard.

This just seems so around the bend. How do they get anybody to join such a sicko congregation? Even in Kansas, it just seems so psycho.

2. I've thought for quite some time that Mr. Phelps
is just a joker with no self esteem and the day he dies, his last word will be "psyche!" He's a sad man and his sad ideas will die with him.

I give him as much thought as any other loony radical religionist... Muslim, Protestant, Jewish, Buddist.

4. Ive seen some of this before on this other site
www.godhatesfags.com and I'm afraid it is real. They organized protests for Shepard's funeral with signs about how he was burning in hell and all. A very sick, completely non-christian group with a message of extreme hate. It is scary to think its a real church. Just think of how many others think like him but don't broadcast it to everyone. I prefer knowing he is a bigot to the closet bigots of the world.

5. They tried to display it in the park in his hometown
Claiming that that is where he "learned to be gay".

They almost forced city council permission because the city posted the ten commandments in the park. Phelps claimed equal rights for his church.

This is what happens when we mix religeon and state.

<excerpt>
Rev. Fred Phelps has proposed monuments to be erected in multiple cities nationwide. These monuments state that Matthew Sheppard is in hell. Phelps is trying to put the Matthew Sheppard Monument up in cities nationwide. The City of Casper has denied the erection of the monument but that is not stopping Phelps. He is protesting and fighting the ruling. Please, let the city of Casper and the state of Wyoming know how you feel about this matter.
On January 5, 2004 Phelps sent a letter to the City of Topeka with a check for $250. The check was to pay for a bench to be put up in a Topeka park stating: "Matt Shepard in Hell. He Defied God's Law."
January 20, 2004 Phelps sent a letter to the city of Winston-Salem, NC requesting a permit to erect a monument. The same monument that he proposed to the City of Casper, WY. This is part of Phelps attempt to erect these monument nationwide. He has been denied by Wyoming and Idaho and is currently looking into pursuing legal suits against the cities. Soon he will be attempting to have a monument in your state. It is time for us to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

6. They're NUTS. They even said that Mr. Rogers is going to hell.
According to Phelps he was not a good enough neighbor to make it to heaven... Mr. R, you see, apparently belonged to a church that does not "properly" condemn gays.... ????

:wtf:

8. I believe Mr. Rogers himself was a minister.
I think he was Episcopal or Presbyterian. I forget.

9. Phelps came to my town and I participated in a counter protest
against him.

the answer is no, they are not "for real" in the sense that his "church" consists of mainly his family and no national demonization recognizes his pastoral credentials.

He gets media attention because he is so outrageous. When he came to down to "protest" there were about 15-20 of them and 250 of us. By the way the bulk of "us" were from Christian Churches, along with the Jewish Community, some Buddists and the gay and lesbian communtiy. All side by side, all united.

10. The Phelps Posse protests the Nutcracker every year...
in Topeka, because Tchaikovsky was gay.

I'm becoming convinced that Phelps is a gay activist who stages these protests to obviate how stupid homophobia is.

11. I knew they were fanatics, but they protest "The Nutcracker"?
I never even knew Tchaikowsky was gay. I never asked, since it doesn't matter to me. I do like the music he composed.
