LOS ANGELES - Robin Quivers has her sights set on daytime television.
The radio personality, best known as a co-host on Howard Stern's syndicated morning show, has signed a deal with Sony Pictures Television to create a pilot that would likely become a one-hour daytime talk show. It could launch as early as next year. "Robin's a really interesting person, and what's wonderful about her is her strong interviewing skills," said Melanie Chilek, senior vp development and syndicated programming at Sony Pictures Television. "A talk show is hard work, and you have to be a great listener. Robin has that built-in skill set."
Chilek added that the specifics of the show's format have yet to be worked out, but that she would like to see something that doesn't necessarily conform to the traditional talk show format. She also said the show would be targeted toward women but that it's too early to specify any particular demo. Chilek believes that Quivers' personality and background will resonate with viewers. Quivers overcame many odds, including being molested by her late father, battling with her weight and depression and becoming the first member of her family to go to college, she added. Quivers chronicled these events in her best-selling autobiography "Quivers: A Life." "She's so much more dimensional than (what comes across) on the radio," Chilek said. "Given the fact that she's realistic, has a down-to-earth attitude and speaks so frankly, there's so much to work with in developing a show for her that would resonate with viewers."
Quivers joined Stern's radio program, a TV version of which airs on E! Entertainment Television, as co-host in 1981. She'll continue to appear on the radio show while developing the series, Chilek said.
Quivers, who was a nurse in the U.S. Air Force before her radio career, also appeared as herself in the 1997 feature film "Private Parts," a comedy biopic of Stern.

I dispise daytime TV. But I bet that this could work because Howard would never let her get away with making some awful 'Operah/The View' clone. Robin's gotten strongly liberal lately and is always adamant at not letting the whore spin get past the story. She LOATHES Bush and the right-wing government as well.
