What's Your Theme Song?
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 05:00 PM by Placebo
My theme song today is "You Don't Care About Us" by: PLACEBO :headbang:

If it's a bad day, you try to suffocate.
Another memory... scarred.
If it's a bad case, then you accelerate,
you're in the getaway... car.

If it's a bad case, you're on the rampage.
Another memory... scarred.
You're at the wrong place, you're on the back page,
you're in the getaway... car.

You're too complicated, we should separate it.
You're just confiscating, you're exasperating.
This degeneration, mental masturbation.
Think I'll leave it all behind, save this bleeding heart of mine.

It's a matter of trust.
It's a matter of trust.
Because..
You don't care about us...
You don't care about us...

It's your age, It's my rage.

1. Come Sail Away by STYX
I’m sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I’ve got to be free, free to face the life that’s ahead of me
On board, I’m the captain, so climb aboard
We’ll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I’ll try, oh Lord, I’ll try to carry on

I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we’ll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

13. I saw some guy sing that song really well on Jimmy Kimmel
the other night.

I think it was the guy who does Spongebob's voice, but it sure sounded like the original vocals!

8. Landslide
I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
’till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing
’cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I’m getting older too

Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down

...ok this may be due to my social anxiety issues. LoL.

Or

paranoia paranoia

everybody's coming to get me
just say you never met me
i'm going underground with the moles
hear the voices in my head
i swear to god it sounds like they're snoring
but if you're bored then you're boring
the agony and the irony, they're killing me
i'm not sick but i'm not well

(who was that? Green Day?)

Can you tell I feel like shite today?

43. Hey, those are MY theme songs!
:D

But this week I'm liking:

1985
Bowling For Soup

Woohoo
Woohoo

Debbie just hit the wall, she never had it all
One Prozac a day, husband's a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty-four
Only been with one man
What happened to her plan

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass
On the hood of White Snake's car
Her yellow SUV is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing has been alright

Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo
(1985)
Woohoo

She's seen all the classics, she knows every line
'Breakfast Club', 'Pretty in Pink'
Even 'St. Elmo's Fire'
She rocked out to Wham!
Not a big Limp Bizkit fan
Thought she'd get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where's the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who's the other guy that's singing in Van Halen
When did reality become TV
Whatever happened to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio)

There was Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo

She hates time, make it stop
When did Motley Crue become classic rock
And when did Ozzy become an actor
Please make this stop, stop
Stop, and bring back

Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
Cause she's still preoccupied
With 1985

That's my theme song most of the time, especially when I have to go out to the mall.

My other theme song when I'm not being a misanthrope, written by me:

Ohhh the toads in France!

And the way they hop!
It'd make ya call a cop!

21. "Clampdown" by the Clash
Actually it is the song that keeps going through my head since Nov. 2.

Clampdown

What are we gonna do now?
Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
'Cause they're working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you!
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
To be young believers

The judge said five to ten-but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?

The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy get runnin'
It's the best years of your life they want to steal

You grow up and you calm down
You're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown
You're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
You drift until you brutalize
You made your first kill now

In these days of evil presidentes
Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
For working for the clampdown
But ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!

And I've given away no secrets
Who's barmy now?

27. "Momentum" by Aimee Mann
Momentum
(Aimee Mann)

Oh, for the sake of momentum
I've allowed my fears to get larger than life
And it's brought me to my current agendum
Whereupon I deny fulfillment has yet to arrive

And I know life is getting shorter
I can't bring myself to set the scene
Even when it's approaching torture
I've got my routine

Oh, for the sake of momentum
Even though I agree with that stuff about seizing the day
But I hate to think of effort expended
All those minutes and days and hours
I have frittered away.

And I know life is getting shorter
I can't bring myself to set the scene
Even when it's approaching torture
I've got my routine

But I can't confront the doubts I have
I can't admit that maybe the past was bad
And so, for the sake of momentum
I'm condemning the future to death
So it can match the past.

when I can't confront the doubts I have
I can't admit that maybe the past was bad
And so, for the sake of momentum
I'm condemning the future to death
So it can match the past.

Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 05:24 PM by CO Liberal
I've Gotta Be Me

Words & Music by Walter Marks
Recorded by Sammy Davis Jr., 1968

Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong
Whether I find a place in this world or never belong
I've gotta be me - I've gotta be me
What else can I be, but what I am

I want to live, not fearly survive
And won't give up this dream of life that keeps me alive
I've gotta be me - I've gotta be me
The dream that I see makes what I'am

That far away prize - A world of success
Is waiting for me, if I hear the call
I won't settle down, won't settle for less
As long as there's a chance that I can have it all

I'll go it alone, That's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else if I'm not right for me
I've gotta be free - I've gotta be free
Daring to try to do it or die, I've gotta be me.

I'll go it alone, that's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else if I'm not right for me
I've gotta be free - I've gotta be free
Daring to try to do it or die, I've gotta be me.

39. Ok, a bit before my time, and possibly cheesy, but..
Imagine, by John Lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

42. Brain Damage
Pink Floyd

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path

The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade you make the change
You re-arrange me ‘til I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head but it’s not me

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ears
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

44. Happiness Is The Smell of Sin
When I was young, I simply believed
that if I waited, my dream would come true.
Making a wish to the light flowing from the sky,
I smiled while weaving the present.

Then I came to realize,
that even if I wait, my dream will not come true.
Kind people are burdened with nothing but sadness,
being hidden/buried in the darkness called memories.

The overflowing smell of sin
Why can't I protect love
without hurting anyone's feelings?
Shards of overflowing lies
Someone's tears are seeping into
that happiness I held in my hands.

Although I descended to this world
with nothing but my heart, which is without amusement
from the moment I held it, I'm afraid of losing it.
Even tranquility someday turns to the enemy.

The smell of sin that oozed out
Why can't I live my life
without coveting anyone?
Shards of warped lies
While dreaming of a brilliant tomorrow,
I count the sleepless night.

The overflowing smell of sin
Why can't I protect love
without hurting anyone's feelings?
Shards of overflowing lies
Someone's tears are seeping into
that happiness I held into my hands.

"Extraordinary"

You think that I go home at night
Take off my clothes, turn out the lights
But I burn letters that I write
To you, to make you love me

Yeah, I drive naked through the park
And run the stop sign in the dark
Stand in the street, yell out my heart
To make, to make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

You may not believe in me
But I believe in you
So I still take the trash out
Does that make me too normal for you?

So dig a little deeper, cause
You still don't get it yet
See me lickin' my lips, need a primitive fix
And I'll make, I'll make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess

See me jump through hoops for you
You stand there watching me performing
What exactly do you do?
Have you ever thought it's you that's boring?
Who the hell are you?

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

Average every day sane psycho

Average every day sane psycho

53. "Girl on the Wing" by the Shins off Oh, Inverted World
one wound up punch of intuition
lays flat my whole take on us.
you're the girl on the wing of a barnstormer
the tidal rabbit who came of age before her time.

we could have been so good-natured
if i'd relented when you'd insisted,
but we've been backed against
all nature's walls far too long.

you felt abandonded by me,
i recall the sunshine as you were melting
and though the comedy softens the fall
they still hear us with their ears to the wall.

i sold all my evil motives,
no icicles stuck in my hide.
i'm through with riddles, i know we're little
just help me feel warm inside.

before we take this ride and let it slide
into the cracks where fall and winter collide.
i surrender all my gall in a song of modern love.
remember you're the one who summoned me above any other kind.

we could have been so good-natured
if you'd relented when i'd insisted,
we take a week off, let the garden grow by itself
and let the gluttons fill themselves with all the worst of the gory nineties.
and thoug the comedy softens the fall, we still fall short.

before we take this ride and let it slide
into the cracks where fall and winter collide.
i surrender all my gall in a song of modern love,
remember you're the one who summoned me above any other kind.

The lyrics may not apply to me at all, BUT WHAT AN AMAZING KEYBOARD PART!!! Simply makes you float.

55. Today it's "Rain on the Scarecrow" by John Mellencamp
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 11:02 PM by AlFrankenFan
I ain't in much of a good mood now...

Scarecrow on a wooden cross Blackbird in the barn
Four hundred empty acres that used to be my farm
I grew up like my daddy did My grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence while grandpa held my hand

Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I'm just sorry there's no legacy for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow

The crops we grew last summer weren't enough to pay the loans
Couldn't buy the seed to plant this spring and the
Farmers Bank foreclosed
Called my old friend Schepman up to auction off the land
He said John it's just my job and I hope you understand
Hey calling it your job ol' hoss sure don't make it right
But if you want me to I'll say a prayer for your soul tonight
And grandma's on the front porch swing with a Bible in her hand
Sometimes I hear her singing "Take me to the Promised Land"
When you take away a man's dignity he can't
work his fields and cows

There'll be blood on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Blood on the scarecrow Blood on the plow

Well there's ninety-seven crosses planted in the courthouse yard
Ninety-seven families who lost ninety-seven farms
I think about my grandpa and my neighbors and my name
And some nights I feel like dyin' Like that scarecrow in the rain

Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I'm just sorry they're just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow

Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation This land made me proud
And Son I'm just sorry they're just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow Blood on the plow
