7. Wisconsin - on Lake Michigan shore. |
|
But I don't think it's "lake effect" snow - they're forcasting snow for the next 3 days!!!!!!!!!!

15. I'm in Algoma - 30 miles north. Go figure. |
|
It's really more like flurries that come and go. Maybe it IS lake-effect, after all. But I know they were expecting snow tonight in Eagle River and in the UP.

12. Ha! The first snow is the best - |
|
- but I'm sure that by February I'll be bitchin' about it like last year. Better go make sure the snowthrower is primed and ready, just in case... Oh yeah, where did I put my boots?

11. I still have a few windows open. It was 70 degrees here in central NC |
|
the last few days and still mild at night.
:sigh:
I hope we have at least one or two pretty snows this winter.

14. I really missed the snow when I lived in NC. |
|
I remember one nasty ice storm in Durham about 10 years ago. I was stuck in my apartment for almost 3 days, because the stairway was glazed with ice. And I have a tendency to fall (I think I'm gravitationally challenged).

19. Yes, I remember that ice storm. |
|
It was horrible. At least with snow, you can try to return to normal life. With ice, the tree limbs break and fall over the power lines and you lose power. Every car on the road slides in a ditch. The ice coats all the walkways and no one can leave their homes.
I definitely prefer a nice, fluffy snowfall!

16. We just got some snow in southern CA!! |
|
And no, I don't live in the mountains... the snow didn't stick to the ground, but it was definitely blowing in the air. We had this freak storm the other night... I think what happened is that the wind was somehow blowing down from the mountains, just like it did the ashes in the fires we had last november.
It was soooo cold!

21. We're in the Laguna Mt. foothills area, 20/30 miles from the snow... |
|
When it rained on Sunday, it smelt of snow. And it smells of snow outside now - the temperature is in the mid-40's and it's only 9pm. I could see the sunset on the mountain snow when I was coming home from work today! yeah! (Hmmm, I need to thaw out the chicken for tomorrow's dinner. Perhaps instead of trying to stuff it in the fridge, I could leave it outside on the porch overnight...)

And even then it doesn't amount to much.

We're supposed to get our first snowfall here in Iowa tonight -- probably not much accumulation. The bigger hit is to come on Friday and Saturday (you know, just as everyone starts driving home after Thanksgiving). Joy!
