Wanna see a bad movie? Watch "The Countess from Hong Kong"
It's got Marlon Brando and Sophia Loren, and it manages to be really really awful. Sophia is taller than Marlon, and next to her, he just looks frumpy, and they don't try to rectify the difference with camera angles. Oh, actually, do they do once, and now he's four inches taller, and it looks so obvious. It ain't Marlon's role--he's supposed to be sophisticated, and he comes off uncomfortable in those tuxedos, and he's talks like Stanley Kowalski, when he's supposed to come from old money.

And how much makeup can they put on a woman's cleavage? A ton! Sophis's chest is so made up it's amazing!

The wonderful Margaret Rutherford is wasted in a small role where she's in bed the entire time--a rich hypochondriac. And for you Monty Python fans, Carol Cleveland plays her nurse.

Directed by Charlie Chaplin, with all his relatives throwin into minor roles, this movie proves, once again, that actors usually fail when they try to direct. There are those who can make it, but they're rare, I think, even if some are high profile.

1. The Only Good Thing To Come Out of That Movie...
...was the song "Love, Here is My Song", which Charile Chaplin also wrote. It was a million seller for Petula Clark in 1966.

2. I did love the sets and the clothes--this was the last time we saw glamour
Then the sixties really kicked in!!!!!!!

Do you watch Monty Python? It was funny to see Carol because she was in a nurse's uniform, and there were probably a dozen times she had to wear a nurse's uniform in some Python sketch!
