Where do you put your Christmas tree? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 01:22 PM by prolesunited
I bought new furniture in the spring and now my tree won't fit in the living room now. I need to get a shorter, slimline tree.
Now to the disagreement Jason and I are having. I wanted to put it on top of the large end table in the corner of the room. Jason said the tree has to go in the front window ("as proof to the neighbors that we love the baby Jeebus" ;-) ) which means I'll have to get an even smaller one.
So, where should I put the tree? Where do you put yours?

I don't need a tree. There's no way I could compete with them anyway.

5. Never heard of the front window reasoning before |
|
When we've had one, we've just put it where it looks good in the room it's in. That generally requires some temporary furniture rearrangement.

So if Jason drove by my house, would he think I didn't love the baby Jeebus? I like trees in front windows, but I can't really put one in the front.
My dad has allergies so we finally bought an artificial. Attached the lights, so all I do every year is set it up and decorate. Aaah, no more battling the tree to get it to stand straight and getting the lights on just right! Just a 4 foot one. I put it on my cedar chest inside the house. But I do decorate outside anyway.

Think outside the box!
We move an endtable out of our living room during the holidays so we'll have room for a tall tree in front of our windows. I also rearrange the furniture so that we can have reading lighting for the sofas without the missing endtable & a lamp that usually sits on it.

there are windows through to both the living room and dining room from wher eit can be seen and enjoyed... also visible through the front window... also there is no heater in there so it won't dry it out

14. it depends on where we have moved the furniture lately |
|
last year we had to scramble since couches and chairs and piles of books were in the way. I wish we could put it in the front window, but there is no room due to all the computer crap.
I think it looks pretty in the window.
Congrats on entering the phase of your relationship where you "discuss" where to put the tree! ;)

15. No, we really are discussing it |
|
without the quote marks. If we were "discussing" something, it wouldn't be as silly as a tree.
I like it in the window, too. I'll just have to see what's available and would fit in the budget.

17. you would be surprised what silly things can engender |
|
a discussion. But then I have been with the same person for more than 20 years, so discussion, with and without quotes, covers a lot of turf.
Actually, the reason this struck me was that there is a great, perhaps apocryphal, story about my grandfather and grandmother having a "discussion" about the X-mas tree which ended with him nailing it to the floor. ;)
anyway have a nice Holiday.

I'm sure that story is something and we'll probably create one of our own sometime. But I don't think anyone will be nailing it to the floor — at least not this year. ;-)
You have a great holiday as well. :hi:

I like to put one in the bay window in the front room office (because I think it looks pretty there), and the bigger one in the living room by the fireplace.
It's nice having two trees actually - I've collected so many ornaments over the years, including the ones from my childhood, that they don't all fit on one tree.
