We had our patio deck painted, but unfortunately nobody was around...except the cats. Of course now we can tell where they all went once they got in the house...

1. Try "Goof Off!"
It's sold in most hardware stores. Sounds like you'll need more than a can, though.

4. GREAT stuff.
I've used it to take off many many things that in years past I would have thought were permanently stained or stuck.

3. acrylic/latex is water soluble
so you don't need paint thinner. I've gotten acrylic paint on clothing and it comes out in the wash. Whatever cleaner you use, I wouldn't hesitate to get the carpet wet. (probably a fairly useless comment, but I thought I'd share the little I know on the subject).

5. All I know is the sooner the better
I've had paint stains that I removed ASAP. If you leave them, they do not get out. I would try water, then solvent. Good luck.

7. Rent a steam cleaner
After we painted, despite our best efforts we had paint here and there. I steam cleaned and it took a little doing but it all came out. But do it quickly! The sooner you get to it, the more easily it'll come out.
