a letter to the CEO of my company
the ceo of the company i work for sent us out a happy thanksgiving letter today, thanking us for helping the company grow by 3100% this year. So i wrote him a nice letter....

Thank you for the lovely holiday greeting. I am pleased that our company is doing so prosperous. That being said, I think a raise is in order for myself, as I have worked very hard this year to help this company succeed. Please feel free to call me so we can discuss my upcoming salary increase. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

So lets take votes on how long it will take before I am fired...

2. I don't think you'll be fired.
I think he might send you to your direct manager if he's not it, but chances are he's asked for a raise a few times on his way up too.

3. Well if you're going to ask for a raise
your best case is to prove how much your efforts added to the bottom line. Don't be passive - walk into his office with a stack of paper and and show him that without your quantifiable effort or ideas, they would not have had a 3100% increase, and THEN ask for a raise and/or promotion.

If he says no, tell him thanks for the training and paycheck, the competition will be very happy to have you.

4. Oh cool
Tell them you'd be satisfied for only 1/10th raise of what the growth of the company has been. 310%, give or take a few...

5. I hope he appreciates your chutzpah
and gives you a big fat raise! Maybe he'll see some of his own drive in you and reward you (fingers crossed).
