3. Sphinx
I love them. They are so beautiful and just so sweet and kind. I have tabbies myself and they are the best cats in the world, but as far as a "breed" goes, Sphynx

4. Maine Coons
I've been privileged to live with two Maine Coons -- one of them for 15 years -- and they are the smartest, toughest, most wonderful cats around.

17. I love Maine Coons too
Love the look, the size, the affection. I want this Maine Coon kitty, but the $2000 price tag is just a tad steep for me.

25. Know how I got one?
I went to Belfast, Maine for a vacation back in the 70s, and checked out every animal shelter for miles until I found a Maine Coon kitten. Took her home to NJ, named her Rooney.
She lived to be 15 and used to follow me up and down the street like a dog when I was pushing my baby in a stroller. Best cat ever.

5. I really love Siamese.
They are so beautiful.

But I would never own one because:

1. They're so darn expensive.
2. Prone to health problems.

I do so love my mutt kitty though. :P

12. I have a mutt kitty, and she is sweet as hell and I love her
but as far as breeds go, I love Siamese---they are very friendly and intelligent.

(just kidding) - I'm pretty partial to DSH's and Tuxedoes even though I don't own one.

10. Manx
I have two of these and I really love the breed. They follow you around like a dog. My black Manx, Loco, (who considers me 'her' human) even wakes me up at the exact time of my alarm with a loud purr.

13. Japanese Bobtail cats
An old breed -- not same gene as Manx controls the JPT - tail.

They "talk" probably in Japanese <grin> -- their voice is unique.

They love to be involved in whatever their people are doing.

Very intelligent, can be taught to a lead.

They have many dog like traits.

I also love the good 'ole alley cat or barn cat --

I've had Siamese cats -- nice -- but the Japanese Bobtail are great.

14. Balinese
or Siamese

We have three Siamese and a Balinese, what intelligent, loyal, and affectionate animals they are.

As far as being expensive animals, check out Siamese rescue:

Two of ours are rescues, and there are many more meezers are looking for good homes...

18. my tabby/siamese mix is the best cat EVER
Everyone who's met him thinks he's an extraordinary cat (and he is). He gets the siamese's good traits (intelligence, strong bonding, tendency to vocalize), with the even temper and good health of the tabby. My vet has remarked that this mix makes for an amazing half-breed of kitty (the first time I took him in and he came out of the carrier, the vet's eyes lit up, and he said "Oh! A tabby/siamese mix! Those are GREAT cats!)

He looks like fudge ripple ice cream, and has blue eyes, and I'd take a dozen more of him if I could.

21. Flat, with tire tracks.
Kidding...

There is one breed, maybe Abyssinian, I believe they are called.

They are the ones without dander, right? They're pretty cool by me.

I'm pretty alergic.

27. Tabbies. The most lovable and pussy catty of pussy cats are
tabbies IMHO. I do love them all though, even the little half-siamese, in hot water all the time, bastard who owns me now.

28. Persian
At one time I owned a white Persian with nickel size gold eyes. She was just gorgeous and she knew it. She lived to be 17 years old.

If would own a cat again I would want a Persian or a Himalayan.

31. Maine Coons
are said to be descended from ships' cats. They're a bit larger than average cats, have longish but not Persian-length fur, and come in many colors, although tabbies are most common. I've had a calico Maine Coon and a tabby one.

Many Maine Coons have extra toes, and all have big "snowshoe" paws for walking in that white stuff.

Another characteristic is "lynx ears", long tufts of hair growing in the ears like a wildcat has. They have very sweet-looking faces.

The tabby ones often have fluffy striped tails resembling a raccoon's, hence the name. Mine had a raccoon tail.

They are very intelligent and affectionate. They have quiet, steady dispositions. They are not "talkers" like Siamese.
