Not sure what will happen to their plans now, or to the children they were going to adopt.

:(

Just hope it gets settled peacefully - that Dubya stays out of it, in other words. His buddy Vladdy Putin is no angel, either.

1. I adopted! My prayers are with her and her family!
I was a social worker for 7 years in one county, and put my name on the list in another county.

Even though, from the onset of the case that took her into protective custody, it was most likely that she would be ours forever, the case took a year (my adoption-worker friends said that was like a pregnancy). I got her at 2, and I worried on and off for that year (she never saw it).

But everything turned out O.K. And the next 6 years have gone by really, really quickly.

In my faith (Church of Religious Science), we think affirmative thoughts (prayers). So, I hereby visualize a successful adoption for her (no interference).

3. I'll pass those along.
But the pessimist I am, I hear things like "civil war" being said about the situation and get a little worried for them.

5. wonderful!
(grew up in Church of Religious Science)

Friend adopted as well and her daughter was given award by the governor for learning English so fast. She's thrived and a darling..

Her friends complain from orphanage (she calls them) that she doesn't understand the language anymore

2. Better get a recount of the kids before they go ahead

Yes, tasteless, but I have no class.

4. D'oh.
They were hoping for a brother and sister -- but they're still in fairly early stages. Haven't even visited the country yet, and who knows if they will now.

6. They're not willing to try adopting in the good ol' USA, are they?
Always trying to get customers. We have a hard time getting people willing to go through the training, the surveys, the home inspections (which were a piece of cake compared to what I expected - the trainings are social occasions with a bit of info, really).

We have a hard time getting people interested in adopting any child beyond birth to 6 months. Trust me, I am my daughter's only mom in her mind (she remembers nothing before us - even though I got her at two). She knows that the earth angels had to step in and help her because she was a special kid, and that there was a tummy-lady, and she's fine with it.

8. Bummer.
Her hubby had an affair with the babysitter? Shoot. Oh, well, she can take the baby and go get another guy, right?
