Poll question: The Golden Girls, yea or nay?

One big "YEA" for me, I even signed a petition asking for the show to be released. Glad I did, the quality is pretty darn good...

9. The pilot also featured a gay man as to be a regular character.
However, he was dropped.

And I agree with the decision.

While he was yummy to look at, his persona was near identical to Dorothy's. And Dorothy had to stay.

Interestingly enough, the pilot has Dorothy saying they should all stay together and not let men break them apart. So how does the series end? a VERY tear-jerking episode...

4. YEA
One of the funniest and best shows ever!

I still watch "The Girls" like four times a day on Lifetime.

I think I've seen every episode but when I catch one I haven't seen, it always makes my day!

8. Quite! I remembered liking it, but haven't seen it in 3 years. When I
bought the set (Best Buy has it on sale for $29.99, which is $1.20 above wholesale), and watched just the pilot, I was laughing hysterically.

No wonder NBC pushed for a full 26 episode season.

The show is so incredibly witty and charismatic. I'd swear that creator/writer Susan Harris is British! Not many American shows can be witty or charismatic...

5. Which Golden Girl are YOU?
This was something my college roomies and I had heated discussions about. I guess I'm a hybrid of Blanche, Dorothy and Rose...but if I had to pick ONE, probably Dorothy. But man, did her outfits SUCK!

6. In terms of persona? I'd have to say I'm comparable to...
Rose.

Well, Rose on the outside. Sophia on the inside.

O8)

She's an awesome actress, and she's brill at everything she's in: Maude, The Golden Girls, the guest spot in Futurama (!), and so on.

27. Sweet little freeper at work once blurted out that I reminded her
of Dorothy. I think she meant it as a compliment. Dorothy IS my favorite, but the only think I have in common with her is my mouth. I also loved Bea Arthur as Maude.

12. I don't know why, but I know all the lyrics to the theme song:
Thank you for being a friend
Travelled round the world and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.

And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend".

I watched every episode of that show from age 3 to 10 (1985-1992).

my beagle howls, and does it until the theme song is over. It is so funny.....who knows why he does that!

Then again it was on when I was a kid. I liked 'Knight Rider' and the A-Team (and I still do, damnit)

21. Oh, the Golden Girls was more for adults. Kids wouldn't get the humor.
And it's okay to still like Knight Rider and A-Team. Early KR (seasons 1 and 2) are decent overall (it's fun as to how many times Michael Knight gets to go into a small town ran by idiot country-bumpkin southern hicks) and pre-Robert Vaughn A-Team had its moments, certainly.

:D :D

Whoever did the casting was a sheer genius. (not to discredit the other elements, as The Golden Girls had everything in its favor, but acting can turn something mundane into something precious.)

18. I've heard several sermons against the show.
Four women with no "male authority" in their lives is eeeeeeeeevil, according to the fundies.

Anything that gets preached against by them is usually pretty great!

20. The fundies couldn't fill a thimble with their collective of 'brain' cells
much less realize that faith lies in the deed and not in the word, or have a life for that matter.
