cell phone companies - who are you happy with - who has the
best price per minute
best coverage

which unlimited minutes are truly unlimited?
which truly give you nationwide long distance?

No matter where I am in the country - I don't pay extra to make a phone call???

Which are the worse?

Would like to find one that it will not cost me over the the monthly fee I pay them?

16. No roaming charges
in my plan - Got it in Hawaii; use it in the states. Even as far as lake Michigan. Have the Family plan, have never gone over in minutes.

4. I second that
They were really good for a while but in the last 3-4 months they've gone to hell in a handbasket. Customer service sucks. Departments don't communicate with each other. They neglect to tell you certain things when you change calling plans.

I'm ditching them as soon as I have time to shop for another service.

6. I've been lucky with them...
Where I am, Verizon has the best coverage. I hardly ever drop calls or have to deal with static, and I haven't had any complicated billing questions, so I have not yet been irritated by their "departments" yet. YET! :)

10. Been with Verizon for 10+ years now...
...never had any problems...have an older Nationwide calling plan so all my calls, wherever they're made from, are local calls. They've been trying to sell me on other plans with more minutes, but I don't really use all the ones I have.

Their coverage can't be beat...but I know there are other features from other carriers that are attractive too, like "carryover minutes"

Just my experience, for what it's worth.

12. Same here-Verizon has the best coverage area
and I've had no customer service issues. I travel a lot and coverage is key. I have a data account with T-mobile (for my iPAQ and an aircard for my laptop).I had Cingular and AT&T and they sucked.

for some reason I was leaning toward them but seem to remember someone having a problem when they wanted to change or end - they had lots of extra charges

14. I vote for Verizon, and here's why.
They have let me change my calling plan a billion times, they give me a free phone every two years, and I have never had problem one with customer service or calls dropping, static, etc.

The calling plan change is *crucial*. I got a second-shift job for awhile (so I did 99% of my phone calling during the unlimited-nights-and-weekend times) and I dropped my minutes to almost nothing. Then I had a situation come up where I'd be travelling to the next state over every day for a couple of months. They let me switch to a "no roaming" plan for a couple of months.

AND, every couple of months they analyze your calling and send you a letter that tells you what calling plan would be most cost-effective for your calling patterns and habits.

I have sent a billion friends to Verizon, and none of them have had any problems either. I don't know what to tell you, since some people's experiences here seem to be the opposite.

17. Verizon sucks

I had an account for my son in college in Maine because they had the most reliable coverage there. Last night I hung up on a "Customer service" rep who was clueless. A new phone under warranty but they say that a). it was refurbished so the warranty doesn't apply and b). it must have been coroded and that that can happen if you leave it in a humid car or if it is in the bathroom when you shower. So they want him to use insurance and then they tell me that they will cancel it on a second claim but will not be able to tell me if this problem was warranty related or "abuse".

It is also incredibaly difficult to transfer the account to his name now that he has graduated.

I've been with sprint and have found them to be going from good to worse. I think it's an industry trend. To their good, I was able to ditch SNET and get unlimited in and out of state long distance for $15 a month. That alone saves me about $50 a month.

3. I use Sprint
And I like them.. the prices were low. They have a free and clear plan so you don't pay extra for overages. Free long distance and nights and weekends start at 7 pm instead of 9 for an extra $3.00 a month..

I get great reception and never drop calls, my MIL always does with AT&T

and I have crappy credit, Sprint was the only company that would give me a phone without a down payment.
