The "If You Had It To Do All Over Again" Thread
I'd say, "Architect." If I had the chance to choose how I'd focus my education from high school on again, I'd say, "Architect."

1. I would have finished school the first time...
..I would have become a teacher right away instead of waiting until my 30s.

Especially their first album. Objectively I want to call it draggy muddy garbage, but something holds me back. Nice to see another person who knows they exist.

:hi:

And whether guys liked me and focused on my education. Taken an interest in politics at a young age. Heck, I could be a Senator by now if I'd put my mind to it!

8. I would've kicked the bums out years earlier than I did.
Bum 1: ex-husband
Bum 2: ex-fiance
Bum 3: ex-boyfriend (who actually ran off with a floozy before I had a chance to kick him out)

Finally have a good man now...
after 20 years of having really, really bad taste in men.

Beautiful, smart, funny, sweet, the works... we were great friends, but there was never a chance to make a move, then she met the dot-com millionaire and moved far away, and no other women measure up.

Sigh...

18. I would have never sold my 1903 A3 Springfield
or the mini 14 just to please my ( now ) ex spouse.
not that I really needed them.

Also I would never have allowed a working relationship with my assistant sound person on a movie crew to turn into a romantic relationship. I was not even attracted to her in the first place.

also - I would have finished the article I was supposed to do - after giving a lecture.

19. I would have...
Stuck with my second girlfriend. We were both new at dating - even though we were in our mid-twenties, and we got scared and decided to be friends.

I also would have taught myself magic and balloon twisting a lot sooner. Those are good side-jobs.

32. Too much
After reading "The Great Gatsby" again, I realized the futility in doing it over again. There's a lot of stuff I would like to change, but I really like who am now. And if I changed stuff, I wouldn't be the same person.

But I would definitely would have worked harder in High School at everything. Y'know, if I'm forced to answer.

34. Absolutely nothing different
I'm not rich, I'm not a hunk, I'm not in a great relationship. But, I'm a good person, and I'd hate to think that a different road would've taken me in another direction. I could be a rich lawyer if I "did it all over again" but I might be defending scumbags, voting republican and sporting a "Choose Life!" license plate on my Hummer. My conscience is clear, and there's nothing more valuable.

Okay, one thing. There was this girl in college that I really liked, and I had this one shot with her (she decided to spend the night, told me to sleep in the bed with her). I turned that offer down, not thinking I could trust myself. THAT, I'd do differently...

39. Many things.
We all live with regrets and hindsight will always make things so much clearer. The future though is ours. Sometimes it's not easy, but we can't change the past, so we'd better make the best of our futures.

42. I would have NEVER done the crystal meth.
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 07:34 PM by terrya
When I was living in Dallas, 1984 - 1986, I partook of this evil, desperately evil drug...and it ended up destroying my life. I have no one to blame but myself. It was the worst, absolute WORST mistake I've ever made. Lost my job, was evicted from my apartment, ended up essentially homeless (I was living out of my car at one point) and I threw away some lovely friendships because I chose crystal over my friends. My real friends.

After I came back to Illinois (there was nothing left for me in Dallas at that point), I hated myself for a long, long time. For what I did to myself and to the people I loved.
