Thank you DU!
I realized that I have been here for a year, sometime this week my aniversary passed. Almost 2000 posts. I never thought I would ever have the courage to post much. I got shot down a few times at first but gained enough courage to give it a go anyway.

This place really saved my sanity way back then and much of the time since then. Lately it has been driving me back to insanity but I am still hoping it will settle.

I just want to thank you all for educating me, providing me with humor and letting me know that I am not alone in my beliefs. As long as I know you are all there I will feel braver in this world and confident that there are a bunch of really good people out there that I have come to "know".

1. Wish I could use my 700th post to respond
But that's a ways off.

Fighting and sillyness aside (some of which I brought on my-own-self today), this place is great. I was in despair thinking that everyone outside of our little enclave of liberalism (SF Bay Area) was happy with the crap that passes for government these days. If I didn't have this place to hang out in, I'd be hitting the bottle heavy.

Instead, I'll hoist a beer to DU. :toast:

5. Have fun
in the 700 club! Yes, I participated in a few of those slam fests but it really wasn't much fun. I hope you can find enough to post like mad to make it out in quick time.

11. OK, I keep hearing about the 700 club
what is it, other than the time you spend in the 700-799 posts region?

I escaped from there already, thankfully.

16. The terrible
clutches of Pat Robertson. Singing of hymns, quoting of scripture with a hint of the flames of hell thrown in.

2. yup, astro turf aside
This place makes me proud to be a 10 percenter. (the ten percent of us who never approved of bush or thought he was doing a good job)There have been some dark days and without DU I think I would give up on politics altogether.

6. My feelings
exactly. Only 10 percent? Hard to believe that only 10 percent of us could sniff out the evil that emanates so easily from these guys.

3. As regards Bravery and Confidence:
I went through a really tough time of it in my life, starting in about '95, got really bad in '98. But, through the help of some people who have been complete and unqualified blessings in my life and some work of my own, the clouds are lifting.

When I first started with DU, I really had no confidence in myself. Literally. Especially when it came to politics. It really was one of my first tentative steps out into a wider world.

Now, the NJ Assembly Candidate that I volunteered for, the day after he announced he was running, tells people I am his campaign manager. I don't really know about that, but I do know that my involvement with DU went a long way towards giving me my voice and my confidence back, so I could at least give a campaign a shot. That confidence has translated into positive things in my wider life, too.

I, too, thank DU, the admins, the mods and all the wonderful people here.

Now, back to our regularly-scheduled disembowelments. ;-)

9. It is very hard
for me to believe that you ever had a problem with bravery and confidence. Your posts are always good to read and usually have something so hysterically funny in them that I look forward to them. I am glad to know you. Keep it up if you can stomach it all, surely it will change back soon?

My sentiments exactly! Thanks for posting this -- it's the power of community (even 'virtual' ones have a huge impact).

Happy Anniversary! :hi:

17. Sometimes it becomes
the idiocy of community but it is always a great place to hang. We shall overcome this brief insanity and whoop up on the Neocons!
Thanks.

Thanks for posting your good thoughts -- all much appreciated and mutuallly felt. Always look forward to your thoughtful musings.

There will be some bumps in the road ahead, as the candidate selection process heats up, so hang in there!

Best wishes to you -- :toast:

Bumpy is putting it mildly! Yes, it is bound to happen given the circumstances we find ourselves in. Way too many bad vibes in the world, makes us all nervous. Messy as it is, it is democracy. A little strident at times but at least we are still able to do it.
