Question about Mozilla and Firefox |
|
I use Mozilla as my main browser. Is the browser piece of Mozilla the same as Firefox or are they different? If they are different which one is better?

And in my opinion, better. I dumped IE permanently after participating in the beta.

Mozilla is no longer in active development--Firefox is their new thing--it's based on the older Mozilla core, but it's been quite improved--so yes, that's the one you should get.

7. Rumors of the Mozilla Suite's death have been greatly exaggerated |

Version 1.8 is in development. Latest alpha is from two days ago: http://www.mozilla.org/releases/#1.8a5

firefox is stipped down and much more customizable with themes/extensions, etc. It probably has a little more screen room too.

I had to dig a bit. Looks like Firefox is more a cutting edge browser. It is smaller and faster. I may give it a try. How is Thunderbird for mail?

I love the thing.
It's faster, more stable, and more useful.
It also has some awesome plug-ins, like an un-official version of the Google toolbar. My favorite is an extension for Bug-me-not.
See www.BugMeNot.com
I also have a pop-up blocker, and a plug-in that circumvents sites that don't allow a right-click.

9. It works very well so far. |
|
I installed Firefox and Thunderbird on my backup PC. I like the way it imports everything from Mozilla browser and mail. I mean everything including Bookmarks, passwords, cookie settings, addresses and mail folders. Very well done installer.
One big thing I notice right away is that scrolling down pages is much faster.
