Ha! Take THAT Mrs. Crabtree!!! (my 8th grade teacher)
Yes, my 8th grade English teacher was Mrs. Crabtree. Honest to God!

Long story short: I attended an exclusive, private school my 8th grade year on a "charity scholarship" as a gifted child. Boy, did I ever manage to disappoint!

Anyway, mean ole Mrs. Crabtree told me at the end of the year that my writing was so bad that it was an embarrassment to the school.

I am now in graduate school, working on my Master's in Art History.
I went to go see my teacher about my big research paper, and she said it was the best thing she'd seen so far, and that I had a good writing style!

Man, I would LOVE to find Mrs. Crabtree and rub that in her face. She made my life hell that year, and not in that "tough love - for your benefit" way either. She was mean, condescending and sometimes downright cruel.

Yeah, I know, I need to get over it.
:P

4. All Saints Episcopal Day School
Worst.School.Ever.

Yeah, I'm bitter.

Inner city kids should not be subjected to the cruelty of the upper class.

7. Actually, no.
I coasted through high school doing "D" work that usually received a "C" because teachers let me slide. I only went to college because a friend of mine talked me into it.

It was only today as I was leaving the instructor's office that I thought of Mrs. Crabtree.

6. My honours comp teacher rode my ass all year long
I hated her guts and she almost wrecked my GPA as well, but I learned a lot from her. Probably more than all the other English/comp teachers put together, so now, with about 35 years of hindsight, I appreciate what she did.

9. I didn't "learn" anything from Mrs. Crabtree
except that she was a mean person and out to get me. She had no interest in helping me catch up with the rest of the class, just in humiliating me for being behind them, which of course was due to my substandard public school education.

I forgot "milk duty" one day, and she reamed me as if I had murdered someone.
