We're not having turkey...anybody else doing something different? |
|
We're having a BIG chicken instead. Most of the turkeys seem to be injected with crap. So, we got a hormone-raised chicken instead, but it's not injected with lots of stuff. We're only two people and couldn't get up for a turkey this year.
However, we're doing the stuffing, etc.....so, it will be a FAUX Thanksgiving, which is right in keeping with my current mindset right now. As in, I feel crappy since the election....

6. How do you cook the rabbit? |
|
Roasted, breaded hasenpfeffer-style, or stewed?
I prefer hasenpfeffer, but roasted can be really good, too.

3. We had pizza one year, on purpose |
|
not because we ruined the bird or anything. Nobody felt like having Turkey. I've also had steamed spiced shrimp and frogmore stew on Thanksgiving but hey... our family is sometimes strange like that.

12. STILL have no clue.. and we are a family of 6 |
|
WE live in Florida, family in other states.. so it's just the the 6 of us. (4 kids) We were going to go camp on one of the Islands. But the weather doesn't seem like it will hold.
Since it depends were we are going.. what will be served.. I haven't bought CRAP yet. Since all the birds will be frozen, I guess we will not be having any gobble gobble.. LOL!
I guess we will decide when hubby comes home tonight.
Is it possible to eat out? LOL! Or do you have to call ahead for things like this? Thinking maybe Golden Corral...

13. We'll have a turkey but I made oyster dressing this year |
|
growing up near the Chesapeake/DC we always had that dish when I was young, then my Mom became allergic to shellfish and we didn't have it anymore, but I've never given up my love for oysters in the fall. So I made it this year for me and the others. I made a big fat apple pie for Mom I just put in the oven.

14. My friend usually has salmon for herself. |
|
She can't even come into contact with a turkey because she has a severe poultry allergy.
My family will add honeybaked ham to the menu (along with turkey) on Friday when we celebrate. My husband's family will have a traditional dinner tomorrow.

we used to do duck in pomegranate sauce. Did that three or four years.
And one year we made spaghetti carbonara, because of a joke in one of Calvin Trillin's books. It was a lot of work, but worth it.
This year we're following tradition. BO-O-O-RING! :-)
