Wanna know what the #1 R&B/Soul record was the day you were born? |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 04:47 PM by NightTrain
Post your DOB and I'll tell ya!
Here's mine:
March 20, 1966: Wilson Pickett, "634-5789."
One caveat: The Billboard R&B chart debuted on October 24, 1942. So if you were born prior to that day, I unfortunately can't help you. Sorry!

I was not in anyway being a prude! I do not need to justify my music tastes and neither do you. I, my personal self, do not feel the same way about Prince as you, there is nothing wrong with that. I was, like I said, teasing.

and for the year you were born in r+b wise, you're lucky to pull a prince song. you gotta have perspective, it was an inner city down and dirty r+b vibe those years, there was a lotta of r+b co-opted into disco/pop/electronica and well, maybe you had to listen to WBLS and the Quiet Storm to understand

|
February 25, 1997--he seems to share my love for R&B.
I was wishing you could program my satellite TV station R&B channel today--all 1980s--eek.
They only rescued themselves with "Papa Was a Rolling Stone."

Used to be a department store here in Columbus called Lee's, and they used the song for their radio commercials. I thought it was just a commercial jingle for so many years...but an incredibly cool one. What memories that brings back...

Unfortunately, my folks were way too square to go there.
Oh well, at least I got to come of age in the 80s-- stupid haircuts, 'new wave' music, John Hughes movies, bad heavy metal and mullets. And yes, I had one for a while, so I'm immune from future mullet 'infestation'. :dunce:

Hubband says thanks! He picked up a Willie Mabon 78 a couple months back, but it wasn't "I Don't Know". That is one that he often sings around the house though, so that makes it doubly cool.
BTW, we checked out your website and are going to give a listen tomorrow night.
