Mmmmm....
I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner tonight.

Yes, after years of amateur cooking, I finally dug my hands into the Bird.

Okay, part of a bird. There were only four of us at dinner, so I made a solitary turkey breast. Roasted it up with a mire poix and 'shrooms, stuffed with a halved apple. Moist flesh, crispy skin -- PERFECT.

The "stuffing" (which was, of course, not stuffed in the bird, as the bird was but a breast) was made of stale Italian bread, a few slices of rye, and some cornmeal. Add some stock, fresh sage, pepper, parsley, and some of the mire poix from the bird. Delish.

I mashed up some Yukon Gold tatties with caremelized onions and salt and pepper. Also made some sweet potato home fries with a light dressing of sugar, bourbon, and Frank's Red Hot.

There was also some microwaved shoepeg corn -- family tradition.

Next comes the cranberry pie. Too full now. But the cranberry pie WILL get et. Mmmmmmm.

1. What's "shoepeg corn" if you'll entertain a dumb question?
Sounds like you made a sumptious feast, Al.

2. Sounds yummy
I can't believe you didn't invite me - here I am turkeyless. I had an egg salad sandwich though, which is almost as good. Not.

My first Thanksgiving, I dove in on the deepend. 35 people, two birds. What was I thinking?
