1. I do! And so does the fiance. Unfortunately, |
|
Both our families live over 2000 miles away. We cleaned house today. How sad is that? I guess we could have tagged along with one of our friends who has family in town, but our house really did need cleaning.

Baked a pie last night, and had rotisserie chicken and pumpkin pie with my two puppies.
Actually, although I have a lot to be thankful for, I just don't feel like being thankful right now. Does that make sense?

My parents are awesome. They live in a teeny little town in the Pacific Northwest because they can't stand city living, and their house is almost completely self-sufficient. They use minimal electricity because they have solar panels and their house is super-insulated. They recycle their gray water. They are the most environmentally conscious people I know. They are also the most intelligent people I know - they have a house full of books and both of them have multiple degrees.
My fiance's mom and his stepdad run an organic farm in Colorado! She's also the most rebellious person I know - she used to be in a biker gang and has been arrested (and convicted) numerous times for a variety of seditionary and "disturbing-the-peace" type things. She's very anti-government. I would say tending towards Libertarian if anything. In fact, his whole family are a bunch of radicals and revolutionaries and rabblerousers dating back to the earliest days of our country.
I love both sides of our little family. I think they all rock!
You can see why we (the SO and I) both voted against Bush this year - it's in our genes. :-) I wish we could have spent Thanksgiving with either set this year. But they are both coming to visit us at Christmas, so it's ok.

My family is in my home state of California. I happen to be stuck in Maryland.
It is also true that I cleaned my house today. Now, I will not say how much or how well I cleaned.

4. I do - (but they drive me crazy) |
|
and what did I do this year? I lived 30 miles away and now I live 7! Well they are always happy to see me, and they love me, in spite of my pissy ways. I'm trying to get used to the constant naggly arguing among themselves. And at least they're all liberal Democrats for which I am grateful.

Many of them are here in this state. Some are in ME, some in CT, and my bro and his partner are in FL.

But they're on a different continent!
I celebrated a very nice thanksgiving last night at a Bourbon Bar in downtown Bangkok with some friends. it was lovely, but it's not the same as a cozy thanksgiving at the homestead with lovely family and family friends around, putting pumpking and apple pies on the screened- in-porch to keep cold for midnight snackings, and generally revelling in happy healthy family. It's too hot, too crowded, and we didn't eat until 8 in the evening. That leaves no time for digesting/snoring in front of the football game!
Am hoping the parents will call this morning while I'm working at my desk, after they've stuffed themselves with yumminess and had a tour around my tiny little New Hampshire hometown.
*Sigh. I love being here, but sometimes I really miss my family.
