We had another bonfire at the lake tonight (no bears this week!) |
|
It was absolutey beautiful. I wore my pin-striped overalls with a co-ordinated grey turtleneck/Army sweatshirt. My red bandanna and grey-and-red Merrells worked well with the red bib zipper of the Pointer overalls. I chose to wear gold wire-rimmed glasses for that is-he-a-farmer-or-is-he-a-freak? look. I chose a big splash of Famous Grouse, with deep well water, in a large plastic cup for my evening beverage.
However, it was one of those strange evenings. Every conversation I wanted to be in, I couldn't join. The conversations I was in were with codgers about meaningless shit.
Then I heard the other six or so (three couples) my age start talking politics. Drool. Snap. My meat! I couldn't join. An elder was beating my ear up on trout fishing streams.
" ... A sinking nymph might get you a small trout on ..."
" ... but I am a staunch Democrat ..."
" ... the west branch of the French Broad ..."
"... but my dad was Republican, so I am Republican ...'
"... skip the nymph over the bottom ..."
" ... and I hate Bush ... "

1. Infuriating, isn't it? |

Gentleman that you are, you did well, DemoTex to listen to the old fellow. One day some young fella, all dressed up in his finest pin-stripes will do the same for you. Love the wardrobe details.

2. Slather us with sartorial snippets will ya? |
|
Well, I am currently resplendent in my fashionably torn levi jeans that my wife keeps throwing out, and I keep rescuing and not much else cause that hurricane pulled all the hot air up with it, so we are more like Florida right now than NY. For a shirt, I have decided to go with the natural look of skin and hair... mixed brown and grey spread out in an attractive pattern over my pectoral muscles and thickening down towards my umbilical area. Sounds like you are having fun in your new digs... gomers excepted.
Keep on keepin on, brother.

3. Well, he is a healthy old neighbor, |
|
We might spend many winters up here in these mountains. We are very, very isolated. Who knows, this codger might stop the bleeding before the VFD shows up. He might help me string emergency antennae. He is the type.

8. You know, you can never have too many friends who can |
|
rig a good emergency antenna, or stop arterial bleeding for that matter.
Keep a good supply of tinfoil for him to make hats out of, and you should get along just fine.
