Poll question: Did you get dressed up for Thanksgiving? |
|
I only went over to my uncle's house for a small gathering of family that gets together every week for dinner. So I didn't, but I did wear the fancy sweats...you know one without any visible stains on them. Nobody was dressed up and I had a fun and casual day...so did any of you guys have to get all dressed up today?

after cooking to sit at the table. Did use the good dishes after all. Used the good stainless, not Grandmas silver. Cooked from 8 this morning until 5:30 (pies yesterday) and it was gone by 6!

We have an unspoken rule that we don't dress up unless its for a wedding or a funeral (or a coup - I know I'll be there with bells on) ;-)

10. I wore pants. Does that count? |
|
I figured since we were going over to a friend's house, pants would be apprpriate.

13. Next year I'll have to wear a dress, too |
|
Of course, that will beg the inevitable question: "Dad, why are you wearing that shiny dress?" :)

18. Insofar as I ever get dressed up, yes |
|
Pressed blue shirt, clean tan cargo pants, nice sneakers.
Beats my black shirt, stained jeans and harness boots. I was going to grandma's, so sue me.

everytime we had dinner, it was always slacks and polo. No jeans, t-shirts, hats, etc. The dinner table was a formal place for the family to eat a nice, albeit quick, dinner together.
When I was little, my parents used to put a shirt and tie on me for holiday meals and other dinner events I was dragged to. At age 13, when I started high school, it became a routine and I continue to do it to this day. Though, now at 24, I wear a suit.

26. I was wearing jeans and a muscle shirt I got in Montana |
|
But I then threw off the muscle shirt and slipped into a nice blue flannel shirt for dinner.
Sometimes, as punk as I am, I just like to throw on a button-down shirt and slacks from time to time.

Can't get too gussied up. Last year, my senile MIL and loony SIL ended up drenching the dogs in turkey grease. One never knows what will happen, so you've gotta be prepared for a mess!
