I just had a major scare...
I went to the basement of my building to get some laundry out of the dryer, and when I was going back upstairs, the elevator just started shaking and not going up, or opening the doors. The phone that is supposed to be in the elevator was not there! So I just started screaming. I am very, very claustrophobic and I do not think I have ever been that full of terror. I kept on pushing the alarm button and trying to wave in front of the security camera with no luck. Finally, after five miniutes of just absolute terror, the doors opened as if by some miracle. I was able to find the staircase and make it to my apartment. God. That is my worst nightmare! I am still shaking and my throat is sore from screaming.

1. Yikes
That must've been terrifying. I'm not clostrophobic, but I'd definitely have a similar reaction in that situation.

3. same here
I wouldn't have a problem getting stuck in an elevator (unless it was for a very long time, of course), but I'm sure I'd have a panic attack if that elevator had no phone and I wasn't able to contact the guard.

2. I have a fear of elevators...
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 03:11 AM by Scooter24
that go very high. I think it was in 7th grade when we went on a school trip to Washington DC and took a steam elevator, or so that's what I think she said, up to the top of the Washington Monument. It went so fast, all I could think of was what would happen if a pipe clogged. She was joking with us, but I was mildly stressed. lol Since then I've had a slight fear of going past 10 or so floors.

5. Youch! That's a horrible experience.
I'm really glad you weren't trapped there for long.
