1. I have Fernandes Nomad
What do you want to know? It's a nice travel guitar.

2. Oh Wow
I feel so lucky I found someone who has one. Thank you, Gothic Sponge.

I got rid of all my guitars and don't currently have one. $400 - $500 is all I am willing to spend right now. Would the FN be a good guitar just to have and play around the house or occasionally with friends through an amp? Is the neck and action good? Does it sound okay? Have you encountered any problems with it or do you have any criticisms? Is that little toggle switch on the front a coil splitter?

I can't really decide on a "regular" electric guitar I want in that price range but maybe I'm being too picky (no pun intended).

Your info is appreciated.

Floog

3. IMO it's not a great substitute for a "regular" electric guitar .
The neck is slightly smaller, and i have big fingers. I had to change my string gauge to compensate. However, my friend played my Nomad and thinks it's really great! So, i would seriously play one before you buy it. It's a great "pick up and play" guitar. I have the 2001 Nomad Deluxe with the Zoom guitar effects built in. The battery life sucks! A fresh battery will die in 30 mins with my Nomad. I know the newer models use the DigiTech processor...So i don't know if the battery life is any better. I mostly use mine with the AC plug. I think the toggle switch is to switch between amp output/headphone. I'm not 100% sure....I'll check when i see the guitar. I left my Nomad at my mother's house.... So, i'd have something to play when i visit. ;)

Hope this helps.

4. Thanks
I had done an internet search but don't recall harmony central coming up. That is the most helpful site I have found.

From reading those reviews, it may be that the new models have a regular sized neck. (?)

I'm still thinking . . . .

Play on,

Floogeldy

5. It's a regular sized neck as far as the scale is concerned.
It's just a smaller spacing at the nut, so the strings are closer than i'd prefer.

6. Good Call, Gothic Sponge
I find the Nomad nut specified at 1.63" and 1 5/8" (1.625), Les Pauls at 1.687", and Teles at 1.65" and 1.687".

My fingers aren't as skinny as they used to be. :)

I suppose one could always replace the nut on a Nomad?
