This morning, I took the highway to get to work |
|
which I normally don't do (because of too much traffic).
Traveling west, on the east side I saw a poor woman walking, carrying a gas can.
I wish I had the time to stop for her, but I was running late.
Do any of you stop for stranded motorists?

I will stop for women alone, roll my window down a little, and ask if they want me to call anyone for them on my cell, but I wouldn't let a stranger into my car. I feel badly about that, but I guess I've heard too many urban legends.

4. I stop. I even have a "thingy" that allows me to pump gas........ |
|
...from my truck to their vehicle. I've pumped 2-3 gallons for folks to allow them to get to a Gas station.

6. I stop for British sports cars. |
|
Ever since I owned an MGB, and had frequent reason to get help from others, I've always stopped for any British sports car in distress. That's spread to most any lightweight convertible sports cars.

A crazy lady jumping up and down and sobbing by the exit.
I drove over and called 911 on the car phone. She was incoherent, possibly drunk or high on something, and worried about her car and children.
About 5 minutes later, another motorist came by. She immediately went to him, claiming I tried to rape her while mixing in more incoherent rubbish about her children.
5 minutes later, the cops arrived and everything was taken care of.
A month later, I got a call asking for more information about her as they wanted to prosecute her (I don't recall why). I told him my side of events, but it was nothing they could use.
Would I stop to assist somebody else? Yes, with time permitting. It is the Christian thing, and the right thing regardless of organized mythology, to do.

8. Yup. I keep an air compressor, fire extinguisher and |
|
tool kit in my car in case I, or anyone else, needs it. I've changed tires for folks a number of times. Hey, I'm 33 and physically able to do so for someone who isn't.
Everyone should just have a cell and a AAA type of service, but alas...
