1. My local news showed people camped out in front of Target...
...last night (BTW - it went down to 20 degrees). But that $29 DVD player was so worth it...:eyes:

2. 11:15 Eastern
That's a reccomended start time for polishing off last night's wine. :)

Isn't the Day After Thanksgiving a great day? Tons of leftover food, drink, and a schedule that includes, well, nothing.

Have a great day.

4. let them shop, its their funeral
credit card debt and bankruptcies are at an all time high. My sons and I have decided not to buy anything this year for xmas. Its amazing how little you need to get by on. Just food, utilities and shelter, the rest you can leave to your imagination. Counter every moran you see on TV standing in line like sheep waiting to buy crap by not buying anything at all. People who think for themselves dont buy things they dont need.

We're planning a little expedition into Green Bay to visit the Fleet Farm, which IMHO is the only place to shop! Everything for your house, family, dog, horse, cow and car, all under one roof and at reasonable prices.

26. Igen, beszelek Magyarul...
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 12:52 PM by Crankie Avalon
...but I only speak it. I can read it a little if I sound it out slowly, but I can't write much in it. And I don't have the veszo or the double dots over the "o" key on my keyboard, but...

"Van ketto emberek akik magyarul beszelnek itt a DUban? Ugy latszik.

...so, forgive me for the misspellings.

My folks come from Erdely (part of the Hungarian minority still there, not Rumanians) and we emigrated to this country in 1967. My mom was pregnant with me when they snuck out (there was still an Iron Curtain, back then) so I ended up being born in a refugee camp in Italy, where we remained for a few months until our patriation into the US. We always spoke Hungarian in the home. In fact, I actually learned how to speak it before I learned how to speak English, so it's my "first language" in a way.

33. Cool! Now you can join the notorious Hungarian threadjackers!
Mikimouse and me!

My story is just the opposite, I'm not Hungarian at all, but I learned it as an adult. It's quite rusty now, though.

Hungarian is written quite phonetically, so if you wanted to read it it should be relatively easy to pick up.

Jerks... should take a look at the economic analysis of our current state and how consumer debt plays into it.

16. Are these purported savings worth the time involved?
I say nay.

They are tempting, but why the games and increased risk of danger? Just have good prices year round and stop this insanity.

22. That's the truth
Why put yourself in debt for (maybe) half a days enjoyment? Especially when it's going to take most of the year to pay it off again.

There's a lemming mentality going on here.

30. I bought a $20 gift certificate for my sister off the QVC
website today. We've been setting spending limits for Hanukkah and Christmas (my family's Jewish and my husband's is Catholic) so no one goes into debt. It's totally out-of-hand. Show me how much you love/like me by upping your credit card debt. Give me a break.

After buying the gift certificate, I proceeded to go to my bank's website and transferred some money from my checking to my savings account. Fuck going into debt.

31. My new mantra:
"How will you resist the message?"

Message being "Good Americans spend their hard-earned money on cheap crap to prop up the failing bush economy!"

I resist the message by cutting most advertising out of my life, not watching TV (especially not commercials) and thinking about how nice it is to KEEP my money and have less crap in my house.

They ARE idiots. I have NEVER shopped on Black Friday.
