Poll question: The Eternal Holiday Question: White or Multi-colored Christmas Lights?
Every year I see at least one or two articles about what your choice of Christmas lights is supposed to reveal about you and your class/background/spirituality/whatever.

Maybe it's BS, but I'd still be curious to know what the majority at DU would choose...White or Multi-colored Christmas lights.

3. I cannot stand multi-colours!
I cannot stand multi-coloured Christmas lights; I just think they are incredibly tacky and ugly.

Personally I prefer plain, white, non-blinking lights on my Christmas Tree (etc.) and nothing else. Simplicity = Good.

8. "I love multi-colored lights!"
White lights are beautiful and simple, but I have to go with multi-colored. That's what I had as a child, and that is all I will put on my tree. I also have an assortment of colorful ornaments, I've collected since I was a child, and they look out of place on a tree with white only lights. White lights are just too classy and sterile for me to put on my tree, but I do put them up, outside.

20. Welcome to DU messyca
:hi:

i just think far to many people have gone to the clear lights, and it's gotten boring. I'd like to see more color.

just my personal favorite when seen on a house.

Would have voted in this poll had there been an "Other" category...

11. Well, I tried to get the other single colors...
...with the parenthetical note behind the "white light" category. It's still not too late for me to edit if you really think I don't have all choices covered well enough the way the poll exists, now.

7. Well,
usually use all blue lights this has been a tradition in our family. I think all blue lights are appropriate this year more than ever. I do like blue lights though, a very calming and peaceful feeling.

18. I LOATHE all-white lights, at least at Christmas
I don't know why. I think it comes from that one Christmas when my mother decided that there wold be no ornamentation of any kind on the tree, just plain white lights and red bows. Great if you're a forty year old woman, perhaps, but pretty disappointing for an 8 year old.

Now that I think about, though, I have five trees in my house (two in the living room, one in each bedroom), and they're all on timers with white lights or turned on when company comes over. Every Christmas I go out and buy more white lights just in case something burns out during the rest of the year. Maybe it's just the lights on the tree that I want to be colorful. I should really have my Bachelor Pad license revoked...

19. white lights were tasteful in 1992
Now they are just olllllllld and not even seasonal since every other restaurant in the world has them up in their patio year round.

I could do without those "icicles" too. You know the ones. One day they were new and fresh and different, and then one day they were on every other slum dwelling in Port Of Spain. For the love of pete, icicles have had their day. Take 'em down for at least a decade.

I really think multi-colored lights, once so 1960s, are the new white lights.

A friend strings her house with tiny light-up Frankenstein monster's heads. Sometimes I think this might be the way to go.

21. Couldn't agree more.
If you did say it I would've. But I have to confess I didn't like it much in 1992 either.

It's boring.

I decorate with red & white lights only - I can't stand the multi-color lights - and ANY blinking/twinkling lights drive me NUTS!!

26. I like diversity, - multi-coloured for the tree.
But I love how pretty the streets look when the city strings their all-white lights along the boulevards.
