Book search help

I got an IM from a nice fellow I used to talk to much more regularly. It was nice to catch up. He mentioned he'd had a book of his excellent photography published. He is Norwegian and lives in Norway, and I asked if it's available in the US. He wasn't sure, but he gave me the ISBN and publisher's web site. Which was in Norwegian. The ISBN is not found on any American book search site I visited. So, how do I find out about a Norwegian book when I have only the ISBN?

Oh, did I mention I have a mind like a sieve and can only remember this fellow's first name?

Don't we have a Norwegian DUers or two? If they could PM me I'd give them the information I have.

1. Have you looked at alibris.com?

Try that. I have never searched for a book that they didn't have.

It's the URL for the National Library of Norway, English access. At least it would be a starting point for your search. Good luck :-)

7. Any suggestions for a site to translate the publisher's web site?

None of the regular translation sites (Altavista, Systran, etc.) offer Norwegian.

Also, you can enter the ISBN number into Amazon.com's search box. If it's in their system, for sale by them or a by third party, it'll show up.

Sometimes, I have better luck finding things released on that side of the world if I search the UK Amazon.com site, so if the US site doesn't come up with anything, try searching http://www.amazon.co.uk

You may also want to try Ebay.

On edit: Another thing I've done to locate hard-to-find stuff ... type "ISBN 000000000" (whatever the number is) into the Google search. If it's for sale somewhere, it should come up.
