Poll question: Do you now or have you ever had a water well? |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 05:05 PM by Padraig18
Although we have 'city water' now, the house we bought has a fully-functional well in the side yard, right by the kitchen door. Do you have one, or have you ever lived some place where you did have one?

19. We had to get fluoride treatments from the dentist |
|
We had a wonderful spring-fed well when we lived out south of town, but we had to sit through these gacky-tasting fluoride treatments to compensate for drinking pure water.

7. my mom does, and the water smells like a geyser, I guess sulfur, nasty! |
|
she swears it's perfectly safe, but I'm not so sure, plus I don't like smelling like a geyser. (though I use an acne med with sulfur that reeks but works great!)

10. Ours is pretty hard, but tastes good. |
|
We have it tested, and it's safe to drink, just hell to make lather with.

14. Our Well In Florida Had IRON In It... |
|
it turned the shower, tub, sink, and toilet bowl RUST ORANGE/BROWN after just a week. Shower heads and aerators on faucets were impossible to keep clean. Yuk!
We'd go through a full bottle of "Sno-Bowl" every week. We couldn't water the lawn with the well water because it would make the grass turn "rust" colored too.

9. As a kid my family rented a cottage in Crystal Lake, IL, during summer. |
|
It had well water. And a pump in the kitchen sink, though not the bathroom. We bought bottled water to drink and cook. The stuff tasted terrible.

For nearly 15 years we had an 80' well on our property in Ramona. It was great, for all that time we were not in the water district, and that's one of the reasons why we left, because the County was going to incorporate us and cap off our well.

I've had trouble with my teeth all my life, so that makes some sense.

was a water well driller. Made his living for about 65 years drilling...and locating wells with a forked peach limb. Located his last well at the age of 90 right before he broke his hip.

21. I don't think I've ever had anything but |
|
Well, maybe once or twice. I lived in one house where the well was in the dirt floored cellar. The house was built in the late 1700's and the well had a wooden cover that slid off and you could see the water far below. That was cool.
I've always found well water to be very good.
