1. I know myself too well
I have massive ADD. My dogs and cat probably wouldn't eat were it not for the fact that they will sit on me until I feed them.

4. I taught children for over 20 years
and was considered popular by students and parents. I believe there are enough children in the world now, and chose not to have any of my own.

6. I think I'd be a bad parent, at least at first.
I'd spoil the kid, trying to be his/her friend, rather than their parent.

At some point I think I'd come to grips with it, straighten myself out, then get the kid on the right track. And I suppose that's a path many parents take. But I don't care to tread that path myself.

Besides, I know many people who are DIEING to have kids, and lots of them. They'll be involved, enthusiastic parents, and that's what kids deserve. By my not having kids, I'm making room for these others, and I think that'll result in better kids for us all.

7. I have the sense not to have any
If I was foolish enough to have them I would still be a good parent, just one who didn't have the sense to not have them in the first place.

8. From the advice given by many non-parents here...
I'd say they think they would be the most wonderful parents to ever walk the earth.

Funny how actually BEING a parent brings reality crashing down on you.
