1. I watched the game last night with my father (a WVU grad) and grandfather |
|
(who lived in Pittsburgh for most of his life and is, of course, a Pitt fan).
All I can say is...my local junior high school "B" team could play better than WVU. NO offense, NO defense, and NO special teams, either! The fact that the officials appeared to be on the Pitt payroll didn't help matters, although WVU was doing a pretty good job of losing without their help. As I told my father, "I hate to say it dad, but your team sucks", with which he heartily concurred.

4. I'm a huge WVU fan and I totally agree....... |
|
WVU was overrated this year. But it still kills me when they lose to the hated panthers. The 1st college football game I saw as a kid was the 75 game, when Bobby Bowden's Mountaineers beat Pitt on Bill McKenzie's last second 38 yard field goal.

2. OK, and Pitt would probably beat the Raiders this year. |
|
But I attended UCONN for a while...why am I thinking of UCONN?

8. Pitt/WVU is special. We can go 1-11 as long as we beat WVU. |

3. Rasheed needs to learn......... |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 07:52 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
that he's not the whole team. He's a great player, but he tries to do too much. And true to form, he subjected the fans to his patented "I'm frustrated-so I'm gonna throw an interception" thang. Rasheed may make it in the pros, but as a cornerback and nowhere near the offense. Hate to say it, but, cya Rasheed.
Another reason that WVU smelled it up as bas as they did was that they benched Chris Henry. That took away any hope for a passing game. When he plays he smokes. Over 800 yards and 12 TD over only 8 games! Its too bad he had to be a selfish asshole and couldn't play by the rules.
And more horrible officiating you'll never find. The first running into the kicker was marginal at best. The second was comical, the kicker landed on the defender who was on the ground, because of a block. It was complete bullshit. Also, a few of those personal fouls they called were WAAYY shady. Bottom line is that you guys outplayed us, but the refs kicked the shit out of us.
Gloat away, Mike! You've earned it. Think of it as an early Christmas gift.

6. I really like Rasheed... |
|
and I think he is your best player by far. Somehow Pitt's defense did an adequate job of containing him.
Rasheed shouldn't receive any scorn when Henry couldn't even play.

7. Rasheed's okay..................... |
|
but like I said, he's too busy in the pocket. Granted, when your frontline routinely collapses, I'd say happy feet would be a plus. However, there were many occasions when he had somebody open and he'd make a break for it.
The main thing that killed us last night was the same thing that killed us at VT and home for BC, lack of fundamentals. Too many mistackles, too many blown coverages and stupid fouls.
I realize bad calls go both ways, but that was some of the worst officiating I'd ever seen. I think I heard the ref give a player # maybe twice. And that third PF was a mystery, the ref never explained it and ESPN never showed it. It was bad. Abysmal.

5. OHHHH FREAKING YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
I didn't think my young inexperienced Panthers stood a chance, but it was nice to see them pull it together.
The punter penalty was definetly a bad call, but bad calls go both ways. WVU didn't lose b/c of the refs, they lost b/c of the constant personal foul penalties they brought upon themselves.
Now, all I can say is GO CUSE!
